The renovated Museo Egizio is a must in Turin. Worth visiting the city only for this, in my opinion. But Turin is beautiful so be sure not to miss the other attractions. The museum is a jewel and I recommend the 'Passeggiate del Direttore': organized once a month, the museum's director, Christian Greco, takes a small group of guests around a specific area of the exhibition after closure time. Since the area changes everytime is an experience to repeat (often, if you are lucky).
This is an exceptional museum: extraordinarily rich collection beautifully curated. Audio guide is a must (can't remember if included, sorry!): very well done and pretty easy to use. TIP: It can take much longer than you think to visit this lovely place, there is a LOT to see & appreciate (unless you rush through it). Give yourself 2.5 to 3 hours at least. The guards & staff are a bit curt: avoid & don't expect super-helpfulness.
The new art works disposition made it one of the best museums I have ever seen. Look at the hardest stones in the world and ask yourselves how ancient Egyptians sculpted them. See the chief architect burial and examine his bed, clothes, goods and work instruments. Compare burial workers’ instruments with pictures of king valley burials and remain breathless in front of their work.
Superb place to visit even for those who don’t do museums Pace yourself as it is huge but worth doing all as gets better & better. You are up front & personal with the exhibits they are not miles away like other museums Go!
Stunning collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts - in fact the second largest collection in the world after Cairo. Very well laid out and it's well worth using the audio guide. I learned a huge amount.
Lots of great exhibits, perhaps too many to take in at one go. Hall of Kings is at the end of the tour so skip earlier sections to make sure you enjoy this last area. Guide not always helpfuln directing to the next exhibit.
Extremely close to the train station and with in walking distance of the Egyptian museum, not in a bad neighborhood. You have to look for the address on the front of the building because there is no sign but it was not hard to find. Staff was very nice even though they did not speak English and I know very little Italian we had no problems. Breakfast was wonderful and they let us leave our bags with them after check out while we explored the city more
Walking distance to many attractions in city center Apartment was perfect size for our family of 5 Host Annalisa was most helpful in providing information packet on where to park, dine, shop, attractions, etc. She also went above and beyond by helping us book a private tour of the Egyptian Museum in advance of our stay when we had difficulty getting a response to our requests. This was most appreciated. She was very easy to contact via WhatsApp.
Beautiful building found in large piazza not far from the very centre of town. Porta Nuovo station approx 15-20min walk. Egyptian Museum approx 10min walk. Welcoming and helpful staff. Nice clean room with complimentary tea coffee making facilities (nespresso style coffee machine). Breakfast was very nice with the usual array of European options, pastries, cereals, fruit and staff on hand to provide cappucino's etc.
Family run: very friendly and knowledgeable . Guests were quite sociable. Location is superb: one block from train station Porta Nuova (half hour walk to Porta Susa and buses), major sites were within walking distance (don't miss the Egyptian Museum). Close to PAM for cheap food and one can use the kitchen. Lift and then some stairs (but still accessible by a motorized chair). Quiet. Clean. I would love to return.
The location of this apartment is right in the center of things across from the Egyptian Museum. Loved the location; central to everyone going on in the city. The apartment is stylish and modern. The kitchen is complete and love the Italian bathroom. Our welcome was informational and nice. I would not hesitate a second to stay here again.
The apartment is really central, you can reach the whole city center by walk. The apartment is really clean and nice. Old style furniture and all the comfort. Next to the apartment you can find restaurants, coffee shops and supermarket. Via Po is really near, to Piazza Castello is 5-minutes walk and to Egyptian Museum is 10-minutes walk.
Great breakfast and ambience in the lobby. Location was great for my business purposes, and the Egyptian Museum is close by too. Friendly and helpful front desk staff who were very responsive to our needs. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner worked great.
Awesome view of the square. Next to cafes, sites, bars, shopping, train station, and public parking. The cell phone that the suite provided is a wonderful idea and was used as a hotspot. Was only a 5 minute walk to the Egyptian Museum.
Great location, very close to Egyptian Museum.
