Only surviving bridge over the Arno from pre WW2 and one of the icons of Florence. Home to gold and silversmiths that line the whole stretch of the bridge. One gets a fine view of it from the Uffizi window.Very photogenic. Always thronged with tourists.
I stepped back in time; it was the Medici Renaissance all over again! If you love jewelry lover you will be in heaven because there are jewelers all along the bridge. Enjoy your shopping! There are also some very good restaurants to sample.
How does one go to Florence and NOT go onto this famous bridge?! It is full of tourists, however, and a very small and quick site. Best seen from a distance, or used to get across to the artisan and food center of the city.
WALK ACROSS IT, IT IS HISTORIC. IT DATES BACK TO AT LEAST THE1500'S. IT WAS SPARED DURING WORLD WAR II BY THE GERMANS (AGAINST HITLER'S ORDERS). IT'S LOADED WITH EXPENSIVE GOLD AND JEWELRY SHOPS. THERE ARE OTHER PLACES TO BUY JEWELRY AT A LESSER COST. I'D SKIP BUYING HERE; BUT YOU HAVE TO SAY YOU WALKED ACROSS THE PONTE VECCHIO. READ ABOUT IT IN THE TRAVEL GUIDE : FROMMER'S FLORENCE. AND FOLLOW THE FROMMER'S GUIDE FOR SUGGESTIONS WHILE IN FLORENCE. IF YOU FOLLOW THE FROMMER'S GUIDE BOOK (AND I HAVE NO FINANCIAL TIES WITH FROMMER), YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TRIP. Visit this bridge after dark (late evening) before the shops close. ON the bridge it is very busy and there are nothing but gold stores here . Can spend some quiet time on the river bank admiring this bridge.
The bridge is very crowded, but a must see in Florence. There are many good vantage points to take photos from afar, but if you go to the Uffizi be sure to look out the window as it is probably one of the best views of the bridge you will see!

Absolutely the best location in Florence! 15 on a score of 10! Bonus was professional caliber street musicians performing nightly in the little square adjacent to location, where Street is closed to traffic at night. Comfortable walk to train and bus stations without luggage, harder but doable with luggage, Luxury designer shops in immediate location, so area was very clean and secure. Weather was intolerably hot yet Hotel cool and comfortable. Highlight of stay was watching blood moon eclipse from bridge looking past and over Ponte Vecchio.

I am a former hotel manager and I was very impressed with the staff. Super friendly and helpful. The hotel location is fantastic, it's right next to the Ponte Vecchio. The breakfast was very impressive. Our room was in a nice and quite location, it had great amenities and was very clean. The housekeeping staff does a great job. Best of all was the air conditioning as Florence temperatures were very hot. It was so nice to come into a nice cool room. We will definitely will stay there again upon our return to Florence.

We wanted a two bedroom two bath apartment in central Florence. Chimabue Suite met all are needs very well. The location is great; walk out the door and you are there—steps from the Uffizi. The apartment was well equipped, roomy, and comfortable. We ate breakfasts in, and made a few lunches and two dinners in. Daniele, the manager, was very responsive and helpful. Be sure to ask how to operate the European appliances if you don’t know. There is a great grocery store just over the Ponte Vecchio and to the left.

Upscale hotel not far from train/bus stations, and an easy walk to the Ponte Vecchio/museums. Comfortable bed and large bathtub. Nice to take a good soak after a long day of walking the city! Breakfast had hot and cold items, and staff were very attentive. Good coffee. Strangely, my phone adapter that has worked in numerous stays throughout Italy had prongs that were too large for the outlets. Fortunately the front desk let me borrow one for the 2 night stay so that I could keep my phone charged.

It was next to the Ponte Vecchio, within walking distance of the Duomo. The hotel room was nice, and the housekeeping staff were honest, understanding and patient. The room had parquet flooring (except in the bathroom), good water pressure and hot water, daily change of clean cotton towels, AC worked well. Excellent restaurants near the hotel. It was lovely place to stay. (It had "fitness stairs" instead of "emergency stairs".)

A lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Florence, close to the Ponte Vecchio. we had very spacious suite with an attached loft with a double bed. Abundant breakfast in the indoor veranda. The ancient roof top tower is a very romantic spot for a night cap and a gorgeous view of Florence at the end of a long day. Excellent restaurant 2 doors down, Ristorante Toto'. Beautiful find, I highly recommend it!

Location was perfect! 5 minutes to Pitti Palace, Ponte Vecchio, grocery story and easy access to all of Florence. Apartment was very nicely appointed and there was a concise but thorough information sheet in multiple languages. Fans in each bedroom along with versatile windows & shutters made it pleasant even when it was very hot outside. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby but quiet at night.

This apartment is located centrally, not far from the Plaza della Signoria, the Ponte Vecchio and other central locations. It is waking distance to everywhere and is a great place to stay when you want to explore the sites of Florence. It was a great refuge from the typical congestion of tourists in the area. When you turn down the street, there are few tourists and traffic.

This hotel was perfect for what we wanted to do in Florence. It was an easy walk to get to places like Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo and other areas. We were a little nervous when we walked out of the train station and realized the hotel was right there, but it ended up being the perfect spot and was so easy to come and go from the train!

The apartment is at the center of Florence city. It is near shopping centers, Santa Maria Cathedral & Duomo, Gallerie dell'Accadamia, Uffizi Museum, Ponte Vecchio, etc. The apartment is spacious with 1.5 baths, and has an open balcony. The manager, Pedro, is friendly and helpful.
Either climb up to Piazza Michelangelo to watch the sun set over the whole city or walk to Ponte Vecchio and watch the sunset over the water and other bridges.
Taxi to Piazza Michelangelo, walk back down over Ponte Vecchio and through the historical quarter passing La Duomo. Fantastico!
Ignore the tourist traps, walk over the Ponte Vecchio to the old quarter you'll find amazing restaurants and pizza. Cheap.
It is full of high end shops and you only need to visit the Ponte Vecchio with its end to end jewellery outlets to do that!!
