You can't visit Palermo and not visit this spot. The meeting point of the four kings of Palermo is special and reinforces the many influences that make Palermo and Sicily such a diverse and exciting place to visit.
Read about the Quattro Canti before visiting, It represents the 4 seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn, above those 4 states are the 4 kings of Sicily and above those are the 4 saints. Above that is the beautiful blue Mediterranean sky.
Try the crowded Bisso Bistrot just off the intersection–good food at reasonable prices (you‘ll likely share a table). The nearby fountain and three churches: St. Mary‘s of the Admiral, St. Cataldo‘s and St Catherine‘s are worth the entrance fee (a ticket to one gets you a discount at the others). Don‘t sit on the inviting ledges of the fountain– a guard will scold you!
Important historic center in Palermo designed in the early 1600's. The statues & facades represent the 4 seasons, the 4 Spanish kings that ruled Sicily and the 4 patron saints of Palermo: Ninfa, Cristina, Olivia & Agata.
Incredible. (By the way, if you want to eat well and pay little, there is a restaurant just on one of the corners of Quattro Canti called "Libreria (something or other). You can't miss it. It opens at 19.15 but you'll need to get there about twenty minutes in advance. It was recommended to me by a local couple. I wasn't disappointed).
jump out of your taxi to take a walk around the Quattro Canti - which has inspired a number of key spaces in London - Oxford Circus has its own take on the QC - and then jump back into your taxi to get you down to the Botanical gardens which will NOT disappoint
Based on the name, I was expecting an inexpensive B&B in the quattro canti section of the city. What I found was a modern, upscale hotel with plenty of amenities, Our room had a direct view of the magnificant fountain in front of the town hall. The beautiful rooftop bar and breakfast area gave us a bird's eye view of the city, and the very attentive waitstaff there served us a fine welcome cocktail. We were delighted. I should also mention the front desk staff were very helpful and spoke very good English.
Fabulous one-bedroom apartment, a two-minute walk from the Quattro Canti - the center of old Palermo. Very spacious, large living room, fully equipped kitchen, nice balcony. Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated throughout. Nice comfortable bed, excellent bathroom. Very quiet despite the central location. Absolutely nothing to fault. Luigi and his son Andrea were charming and very helpful hosts. Would definitely stay here again.
Giuseppe, whom I dubbed the Maestro, provides a haven of elegance and comfort, as well as solid advice, in the third floor of a restored palazzo a cortile away from the busy street. The PP is well situated in the New City, with the Teatro Massimo, the Quattro Canti, and the sea all within easy walking distance. Buses, including the Airport Shuttle, can be found at Piazza Politeama. PP is truly a home—not a hotel—away from home.
The hotel is a newly renovated part of a palazzo at Quattro Canti. It is located on an alley so it is not obvious to find, but once you get in it is really nice. The owners have put a lot of effort into renovating the spaces and they have very nice bathrooms and handpainted ceilings. We were the only people there at the time so we had a tour of the other rooms. We took a small room but some of the others are larger.
The styling and comfort of this hidden gem are perfect for a relaxing get away. The staff were prepared for my arrival and contacted me via social media prior to my stay to ask if I had any special requests. I was greeted by name on entry into the hotel. It is a few minutes walk to Quattro Canti and many restaurants and shopping.
B&B was incredibly beautiful and in a fabulous location, a minute walk to the main pedestrian street and five minutes from Quattro Canti. But the best part was the owner Marika’s fantastic-beyond-belief breakfasts! It was like staying at a 5-star hotel! Loved, loved, loved this place!
Unbeatable location -- right at the Quattro Canti (old city center), with lots of walkable sightseeing and eating. Good breakfast, enjoyed the bar. Parking provided (for a fee). Staff was friendly and helpful. Price is cheap compared to other central city full-service hotels in Europe.
Centrally located (15 min walk to "quattro canti") city hotel with friendly staff. Safe Parking available nearby.
