We walked along the bay from Pier 33 it us a long way but plenty of places to stop grab food or coffee and you see some quaint places. We took a bus back from the visitor centre at the top by the toll gates. Once the buses have come off the bridge they all go to the same spot in the city centre.
Well, what can I say - the one and only. Beautiful seaside ambience, fog blowing through the eucalyptus trees, and so many amazing things still echo from days gone by. Be aware of your surroundings but enjoy the magic.
Really plan to spend a few hours to make the most of everything you can see. There are amazing photos to be had but, you will be walking. That is part of the fun of being there! Bring lunch and find a place with a view!
The California Science Center is wonderful. Inside you will find a 3-story Rain Forest under a dome, an aquarium, Animals of South Africa exhibit, a simulated San Fran earthquakes room, full cafeteria and another restaurant outside, and many more exhibits. Plan on spending 4-5 hrs at least.
FREE bluegrass festival, hardly strictly bluegrass festival, every year, on one of first weekends October, emmi lou harris headlines on the sunday teatime. they get big acts for free, paul weller, robin Hitchcock played in the past. the real deal, real cowboys, real hippies, real friendly and free. the Friday is quiet. the weather is generally sunny this time of year. ace, I went as a woman alone, was fine and safe!
Actually a hidden gem! Very nice and huge park with lakes and tons of miles for runners. Even bigger than the NYC Central Park, going and parking there is very easy. Perfect location for a last day leaving the city if you have to go to SFO later. You will avoid most of the dreadful traffic collapse by going down the 280. They even have a small park for Bisons. While they look a bit sad compared to the wild live guys, this location is actually the breeding source for some of the folks out there running around. Still impressive to see these guys so close
San Francisco
The location was very convenient and close to Golden Gate Park and the California Academy of Science building ( bout 8 minute drive) The location was 5 minutes from beach access by Point Lobos and the Sutro Baths The interactions that I had with staff were pleasant The room amenities ( microwave, TV and refrigerator) were clean and in good working condition. Beds were comfortable and the room appeared clean
Alamo Square, San Francisco
Our cozy room was comfortable and the hotel itself was quiet (no noise from other guests). Also, it was walking distance to restaurants on Hayes and a short distance to Golden Gate Park. The room and the hotel were very clean. Communication from the hotel management was excellent.
This vintage hotel is beautiful and comfortable. Our room has a view of Golden Gate Park. We enjoyed the vintage photos of San Francisco lining the hallways. Staff extremely friendly. Loved tehe nightly happy hours with wine
San Francisco
The location of the hotel was great and next to the golden gate park, which was the reason why we went to the city. We had plans to go to the outsidelands festival. Rooms were clean and friendly staff.
Perfect location for visiting San Francisco at a reasonable price. At Fisherman's Wharf with easy access by car to the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, Palace of the Arts, and cable cars.
Close to the beach and to the Golden Gate Park. Walkable in many directions.
San Francisco
The location is good. Close to the beach and Golden Gate Park
Golden Gate park has sooo much to offer including its history. There's a conservatory, a Japanese tea garden, stables, two museums, countless wooded and grassy areas for any kind of sport or recreational exercise, they've even got Bison. Not to mention that the city as a whole including the parks are super dog friendly.
Yes, Golden Gate Park is one of my favorite places.
