But that should not discourage you from going. In the 5 days we spent there it rained every day, but mostly in short duration bursts with plenty of nice weather to do outdoor activities. The place has two cabins each with an upstairs and a downstairs unit. All the units are very open to the surrounding rainforest, but surprisingly, mosquitoes were not a problem. The meals are prepared by a skilled cook using local ingredients and the meals are substantial and delicious. Juancho, the resident manager, speaks some English and is very kind and helpful. He will help you arrange a canoe trip up the nearby river to a swimming hole, and a jungle hike to another swimming hole beneath a waterfall and a deserted beach. A short walk west down the beach is Arusi, a small village with a few stores. A 45 minute walk east will take you to some hot springs, but you can only do the walk at low tide in order to cross a channel. If you go it’s necessary to fly first to Nuquí then take a boat ride that takes about 1.45 hours to Luzul.
