The onsen and the food was great

It had everything we needed. It was so clean, and just a walk away from the town centre.

This was an amazing guesthouse! We stayed here before trekking the Kumano Kodo, and the host was incredibly kind and accommodating. They allowed us to drop our bags off before check in and, even more generously, let us leave them at the guesthouse while we completed the trek and collect them afterwards. We only stayed for 1 night, but the guesthouse was comfortable, traditional and exceptionally clean. The host was wonderful, meeting us personally for check in and making us feel very welcome. They were friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with throughout. We would definitely recommend staying here, especially if you’re doing the Kumano Kodo 😊

Stunning ocean view from bedroom and quiet onsen on top floor made for a relaxing night.

This was a gem of a guest house in a traditional Japanese home where we stayed one night before the Kumano Kodo hike. Aaron was very welcoming and had everything we needed including Japanese tea and slippers to wear in the house. He also had all the information we needed about the hike including bus times to reach the start. We felt like one of his family rather than customers in his home. Highly recommend!

It’s a nice apartment at a good location, just a few minutes walk from the train station, with a big room and it’s all very clean.

Great quality for the price. Room was large and clean. Japanese breakfast was great with rice, miso soup, multiple small dishes, coffee and tea. Reception helped me with luggage transfer to the final destination in nachikatsuura.

Clean , easy, quiet and extremely good instructions in English . Would highly recommend

The host was fantastic, he spoke fluent English and helped me make a plan for my Komano Kodo walk, including bus stops to use , buses to catch and how much cash I might need. The bed was warm and comfortable and the facilities included a working kitchen which I didn’t use but which would be ideal for a longer stay

Amazing stay for the night before our Kumano Kodo hike! The apartment is beautiful and had everything we could have needed. The staff were so warm and welcoming too, and we were greeted with a delicious breakfast at 6am before we set off. What a great stay!

Host was super helpful and responsive to our questions!! The accommodation was extremely spacious and very comfortable. Love the camping decorations around the place, the bed head Lights, the bins, etc.......it was pretty cute!

A cute little guesthouse and café in walking distance from the train station.

All is cleaned and organized, we can easily spend few days with family and/or friends. Even have an outside balcony, garden side, both levels. Rooms are on the garden side, not on street side, so it is quite to sleep well.

Everything was perfect. The staff were amazing and it makes a big difference nowadays, thank you again, I definitely recommend this place!

Momo is an excellent host with extraordinary attentiveness and kindness. All the meals were delicious and carefully prepared. I was even given fruits and snacks that made my Kumano Kodo hike really enjoyable! The house is beautifully renovated and close to the beach. Even if it is a bit of a walk from the station, Momo would borrow the bicycle or offer a lift! It is more than just an accommodation, but an experience.

Very warm hosts, great location for the start of your hike right on the edge of town

Absolutely lovely place to stay, with truly spacious rooms. Incredibly helpful staff, almost foretelling guests wishes. We were treated like the most valuable guests, and that was a unique experience. Please however note, the hotel is a bit on the far side of Tanabe, so if you're not into walking, this may be an issue. It wasn't for us, as we came there for hikes and walks, so it was just great place. Also not sure if we were off season, but it looked like we were the only guests in the whole building.

Super cute and spacious place above a lovely cafe. We happend to had a major JR train delay on the day of arrival, the owner still waited for us to arrive late at night with warmest weclome. There is a bike available to borrow, so we did a little bit cycling right next to the sea, great way to catch the sunset.
