A great place to stay with a very welcoming family. Emi was so kind and willing to help! Also, it was really close to the beach (5 min by bike) and you could rent surfboards and the bikes were free to use. Would highly recommend to stay here if you're in Aoshima!

The building is beauitfully thought through and a lovely cosy feel. It was out of season but still managed mornng yoga on the deck. I enjoyed my time here very much.

It is provided everything so I didn't have to worry about towels or toilet supplies. Also coffee and tea are free. The whole place is tidy and neat. And the view is the most beautiful I've ever seen. On the other hand, I have to highlight the kindness of the owner, she was so helpful. Definitely I'd stay again there, it worths it.

Este ryokan, inaugurado en abril de 2014 tras una reforma completa, ofrece habitaciones amplias rodeadas de montañas tranquilas. The food was excellent and the staff were attentive and helpful. We had rented a car and in the morning we found that the staff had placed a cover over the wind screen to prevent frost from forming. We were impressed by their attention to detail.

Let me start with the location. Rekan is very conveniently situated — right near Takachiho Shrine, close to the bus station, and just a short walk from a local market with souvenirs and regional products. There are also cafés and restaurants nearby. It’s not far from Takachiho Gorge, and overall, there’s always somewhere nice to walk and explore. The hotel has its own parking as well. The room was excellent — clean, spacious, fully equipped, with a generous selection of complimentary snacks and drinks. There’s a private onsen and a small garden that you can enjoy. Honestly, I didn’t even want to leave my room. The staff were extremely polite and friendly. Always ready to help — they personally advised me on the best places to book in the city and recommended where to go. They were genuinely interested in my trip and eager to assist. Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding. I overate every time. The staff kindly explained and presented everything with such care that I even felt a bit awkward from their overwhelming politeness. It’s a wonderful place, and I’d love to return again.

This is the best apartment that I have stayed in my 2-week vacation in Kyushu. Unfortunately, we only stayed 1 night (original was 2 nights) as our flight from Yakushima island was cancelled due to bad weather. Rather than flying, we took the Toppy jetfoil. Host was kind enough to adjust our stay from 2 nights to 1 night. This place has everything and better amenities/facilities than hotels. Very good experience.
