A beautiful homestay on the shore on Samosir island, with rooms overlooking a garden and the lake Toba. The rooms are very comfortable and peaceful. Dimmer, the owner, is very friendly and helpful, and very responsive on Whatsapp. He helped me arrange transfers from Medan airport and to Berastagi, and picked me up from the Parapat ferry by car. It is also possible to rent scooters to explore Samosir on your own. Overall, I had a fantastic stay, also as a woman travelling alone, and I only regret not staying longer !

We stayed there before and after a 4 day jungle trek during the low/wet season. The bungalow was located on the river, right at the edge of the jungle. There are frequently macaque and Thomas's leaf monkeys in the trees and jumping on the roof. You can leave non-food items on the patio (like clothes drying after the jungle), but the host advised us to keep the door locked when we aren't around to keep them from coming in. We specifically chose somewhere without AC to acclimatize to the temperature and humidity, but ventilation inside was good. Porters met us at our taxi to carry the luggage through the village and across the bridge, which was appreciated.

It was a really pleasant stay!! We stayed here 2 nights before our jungle trek and 1 after as we really liked it. You have your own private terras with an amazing river view! The room was very clean and even has a ventilator so you can have a chill breeze when sleeping. The staff is extremely nice and they will do everything to serve you. They have just built a new terras that will open soon and serves cold drinks but even now they will jump on the motorcycle and fetch whatever u want. The breakfast is included and banana pancakes are always a good idea. It is not in the city centre but with a little hike of 10 minutes you are already there and in return you have a really beautiful view and only the sound of nature. In resumé, i really recommend this place if you are looking for something in Bukit Lawang.

Room was clean and spacious and the bed was so comfy! The host was so friendly and helpful with everything I needed, even helping me book transport. The location is great just a few minutes walk from shops and restaurants.

The room was right next to the lake, which was beautiful for swims in the morning, and the room itself was very comfortable and spacious. The staff were amazing, and made me feel really at home, we played pool, sang songs and I learned about the Batak culture there, couldn’t recommend this place more for whoever is looking to visit lake Toba!

Had an awesome experience at Batu Katak Jungle River! Herman and his wife are both very friendly and accommodating. I did two jungle treks with Herman and we saw lots of wildlife as well as the Arun Titanum Flower in bloom. He is a great guide with heaps of knowledge about the local flora and fauna. You can feel his passion for nature when he's talking. His wife also cooked the best food that I've had in Indonesia so far. Will definitely come back for a longer stay!
