Although there isn't hot water for shower, the staff brought us buckets of hot water each day, and that was adequate to bathe my child. They also arranged the jungle trek for us, we were able to trek directly from the guest house. It's also located very close to the bat cave, 10-mins walk and we highly recommend visiting these caves, and with a local guide hired at the entrance. Without the guide we wouldn't have known where to go.

Dong who runs the place will make sure you have a very memorable stay. The service and hospitality of everyone connected to Toba Boi is exceptional. I had such a fantastic stay here.

Tailana Island Pulau Banyak has a garden, private beach area, a shared lounge and terrace in Alaban. The property features a bar, as well as a restaurant serving Asian cuisine. The accommodation features a tour desk, and currency exchange for guests. Everything except the price for just one person lol and the long distance to get there (also expensive just for one). The place is sustainable, simple and basic in order to protect the island and the corals around. Yet, it has everything you need! The place is beatiful , the island is beatiful! The staff is amazing. Michael, the diving instructor, is amazing. His boat "Karolina" is super! You can even take your open water course there or do a liveaboard. Good spots to dive and snorkeling. The food was Great... with simple things they do amazing dishes. The pizza night is really good! Tailana will be in my heart forever.

We had a fabulous 6 night stay with Obiwan and his fabulous team. Such a special experience for me returning to Bukit Lawang after 27 years. First day we sat on our Indra Valley river view room balcony and watched two orangutang in trees on the other side of the river. We were treated again a few days later with two more orangutang providing us with balcony entertainment. Being located further up the river, at Indra Valley you have the advantage of a jungle outlook from the hotel directly over the river. We did the overnight jungle tour, family of 4 with 13 and 16 year old kids which was a fabulous experience and included seeing more orangutang, many monkeys, a magnificently cooked meal that night and the tube down the river the next day. Kids absolutely loved it. Obiwan and his team are exceptional hosts, we were very well looked after. Thank you Obiwan, Shelley Tom Ben and Annabelle

Speaking Catalan, English, Spanish and French, staff are willing to help at the 24-hour front desk. I was very happy with how close it is to that water and the boats are moored right out front. Food was different every meal, a mix of Spanish meals and Indonesian and also some Italian. Paco was super helpful organising our fast ferry over there and back, the staff were legends too. Would recommend anyone to stay here.
