The house is wonderful, spacious, luxury and quiet. Bassam is a great host and the staff are excellent too. We had a great time exploring from here or just enjoying doing nothing much at all. It is a bit outside Shela, but not that far and a nice village walk.

Every detail exceeded expectations from its preserved traditional Swahili architecture, plunge pool, and cozy pergola to the spacious rooms and comfy beds. The house is conveniently located, a short walk from the seafront and popular points of interest, with Mr. Safari and his team going above and beyond, from airport pickups to being just a call away. I loved the thoughtful addition of standing fans, which kept us cool in the Lamu heat! I’d 100% recommend Andavelo House! The location might be surprising initially, as you pass locals going about their daily lives and navigating some less-than-ideal surroundings (like open sewers and donkey dung). However, this is not a reflection of Andavelo House, which is a stunning oasis that makes the journey worthwhile.

The Majlis Resort is located in Lamu with views of the Ras Kitau Bay on Manda Island. Everything!!!! Stunning environment, very quiet and peaceful. They have the best spa and amenities. The sweetest and nicest staff ever, they really made our stay worthwhile

A perfect getaway spot for a demanding traveler. Steps for the immaculate sandy beach, action and numerous fine stores and dining, but offers a quiet refuge within its own compound in an appealing Swahili style, with a resident tortoise family. A convenient on-site rooftop restaurant with a bar and a nice breezy view of the ocean canal and boats. Excellent service with attention to detail. Tito and Bonnie deserve a special mention!!! Complimentary airport transfer on a boat. A convenient 20-minute boat ride (1000 KSh, or about US$8, each way) to the historic Lamu Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We stayed for a week, it really exceeded our expectations! Caroline and her staff were amazing, the place was always thoroughly cleaned in the morning, same with the pool, and the food was surprisingly cheap and really really good. Same with breakfast, which was also varied; many hotels lack that. Our special requests were no problem and they have many nice, private spaces to relax. I absolutely recommend this place.

The house was majestic. Upon entrance it was like stepping into an oasis from the narrow, but cozy streets of Lamu Town. The architecture was stunning and its aesthetics and functionality impressive. As the house is glass and roof free the natural ventilation was a constant fresh and cool breeze in 30 degrees celsius weather. The house help Jamuhuri had the kindest soul. Everything felt safe and it always felt like coming home because he was there. The house was always clean and Jamuhuri was always ready to help with anything we needed. Asante sana!
