Near nature resort and they set up our safari (elephant, water buffalo, beer, monkeys, eagles, mongoose, giant lizards, spotted deer, …) 137 USD for half day (more than enough given the bumpiness of the roads in the reserve).

This place is right across the beach, it is quiet. Upon our arrival, we received a heartfelt welcome by it's generous hosts. Our room was beautiful, so spacious, clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the main guests room and litteraly wolfed down the succulent rice & curry.

The service and food were excellent. An enjoyable 15 minute bicycle (they are free) ride to Elements Resort on the beach. The owner Anushka is a wealth of knowledge and was able to organize dolphin watching and onward travel for a reasonable price.

Anawasal offers lagoon front accommodation and yoga classes in Kalpitiya. Free private parking is available on site. Our stay at Anawasal was the perfect introduction to Sri Lanka—a genuinely relaxing and wholesome experience that exceeded our expectations. Nestled in a stunning location with breathtaking lagoon views, this intimate resort offers an idyllic retreat far from the crowds and tourist hustle. The standout features are numerous. Beyond the serene setting, the property boasts excellent facilities including a beautiful pool, complimentary bicycles, and water sports options like kayaking and paddleboarding. The yoga classes are a lovely touch, and the resort also organizes various activities upon request for those seeking more engagement. What truly impressed us, however, was the exceptional food and drinks—authentic, delicious, and consistently well-prepared. But the real magic came from the warmth of Shibi, Dinesh, and their staff. They created a welcoming atmosphere from arrival, attending thoughtfully to every need and making us feel genuinely valued as guests. Given the quality of what we experienced, we would unhesitatingly return to Anawasal and highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic, peaceful escape in Sri Lanka.

This accommodation is very special and we felt like we were in an oasis of calm. The pool was perfect, the house is in a beautiful garden among coconut palms. The mini house is very well equipped for European style (we very much appreciated the separate shower). We really haven't found a single mistake. Too bad we only stayed one night, it was probably the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka for a month.

This place was secluded and beautiful. The team were amazing, incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, kind and made our stay effortless. We did an incredible water safari at sunset which was the perfect way to settle in and unwind. We saw elephants on route, and numerous birds from the boat. The morning safari was lush and fun. Great food provided to eat at the leopard watering hole. Thank you to everyone for making our holiday so special and for wrapping Andy’s finger after the “cute” giant squirrel bit it !!

Quiet place surrounded by lush greenery, with few rooms only and with beautiful view of the lagoon. Staff are very nice and helpful, food is amazing. Take a dinner with them, no many options in town!
