The design is stunning- the whole building was a bank and was turned into a hotel- they preserved and restored the whole wood work, the bank doors, the clocks, the painting, the ceiling. Really impressive. The crew is extremely helpful and kind, and it is nice to sit in the lobby for a tea or a coffee. The room is spacious, as soon as we entered there was a knock and we received a fruit platter. The spa area is magnificent- great pool, heated water, jacuzzi and sauna. Very clean and tidy and relaxing.

Great location. Amazing, friendly, helpful staff. Rooms were far larger than expectations, which was nice to be able to spread out as a family. Rooms had everything you needed, plus more. Stocked kitchenette with all the serving utensils you would need. Restaurant was convenient and good food!

Old-school luxury. It’s huge, it’s beautiful, it has pretty much all the amenities you could want. Fully stocked minibar (not empty like at many hotels nowadays), 0-24 room service, amazing breakfast with quality ingredients, restaurants and luxury shops within the building, fully equipped gym, pool etc. Staff were always friendly, polite and helpful. One of my favourite hotels.

Set in the heart of Bucharest, InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest offers accommodation in one of the city’s iconic buildings, located next to the Athenaeum. The staff were by far the kindest people we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. My wife and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary here and they surprised us with a room upgrade with a nice view and later in the day with a bottle of Prosecco and sweets with a handwritten note wishing us happy anniversary. The breakfast was really good as well, a lot of diversity.
