The rooms were immaculate! Very cosy and comfortable stay, and the staff were fantastic. They made you feel at home and looked after you every step of the way. The owner really looked after us well. Our stay was extremely comfortable. We booked the room with two beds and it was spacious and clean. They provide simple breakfast, it was yummy and homely. Location was superb, close to bike hire and China's tuktuk. We rented bikes based on the owner's recommendation for two consecutive days with great value. Two adult bikes and two kids bikes. The only thing I will note is that the shower does not drain quickly enough (so it pools), but this is very minor and did not impact our experience at all. At first glance, we thought it would be difficult to get food. But this is not the case. There are many eateries available within a short walking distance. Download Amap and search for restaurants near me and you will find hidden gems. One of which passion fruit fish.

Lijiang Zen Garden Hotel This hotel is beautiful, charming, with a view and is located in the old city, with easy access to Mu House and all the shops in the old city. Although it is located in the old city, it is accessible by car and they kindly picked us up at the airport, which is approximately an hour away from the hotel. The room is spacious, very comfortable with an excellent mattress, bed linen and towels, and a great bathroom with plenty of water, including a bathtub. But the best thing about the hotel is Amber, who speaks English and organized all the tours we did, including personally taking us to a restaurant, helping us choose the dishes and placing our order. Amber is excellent and extremely kind and helpful. Without her, our stay would certainly have been much more complicated. For guests who do not speak Chinese, this hotel has a great advantage. In short, the hotel is 10 out of 10. We were extremely well attended to in everything we asked for.

Great location - very near the beautiful Lijiang Old Town; Clean rooms, comfortable sheets, and there’s free laundry if needed; Friendly staff - welcomed by fragrant tea and always being offered to join them for breakfast too! Super amazing service and customer care - our host, 和善武/ Jayson, went far and beyond in providing us unparalleled services and assistance even if it’s outside his working hours. Despite language barriers, he’s very patient in explaining things to us who are non-Chinese speakers. He also took us to the must-see and must-try places to maximize our stay. This was the most pleasant place I've stayed in China. The hostel, the room and the bed were cozy and comfortable. There are electric blankets for cold winter nights, laundry facilities and several nice places to hang out. The hostel is a ten minute walk down a hill from the old city. Ashley is a great host who helped make my trip special. She helped me make arrangements for trips and even walked me to the bus for the trip to the Tiger Leaping Gorge to make sure I found my way. Whenever I had a question, she was quick to respond with helpful information. I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in Lijiang.

I like Green Lake hotel. The decoration of our room is antique and elegant. The facilities are so amazing. I was blown away by the TV next to the tube and the monitor of the outside. The shower and tube were both great. I also like the body cleanser and body lotion. They smell pleasant. Breakfast is nothing short of extraordinary. So many options for food, and the kitchen is well-organized. The location is also inside the best part of Kunming. We had a nice walk outside the hotel and enjoyed the coffee shop nearby. We had a lot of fun and made the best choice to stay here.

Kunming is a larger city ...

Kunming is a larger city ... I had fun, but found Dali and Lijiang to be slightly more interesting. The flower market was a real eye-opener, I didn't realize how much we're upcharged in Hong Kong! Nice city, and I will return ... it is the gateway to Yunnan.

Living in this inn is the slowness of understanding Lijiang! The simple charm of the old house in Naxi, the green tiles and red walls are gentle and healing, the fragrance of flowers in the courtyard is refreshing, the room is clean and transparent, the bed is glutinous, you can see the flowers in the morning, listen to the water when you return at night, and find a long-lost sense of relaxation!

I liked the variety of things to do in Dali (sightseeing and shopping) and its strategic location to Erhai Lake. The variety of foods also was great. Also, I liked the overall weather (when it was not raining). It was real easy to get around as well. I just enjoyed going around the city and taking in all the sights.

SHANGRI LA is a must destination.

SHANGRI LA is a must destination. Actually Yunnan Province is a must. Every town is so beautiful and exotic.. a dream for the eyes and for the photographers! 3 days per town is a minimum, there is so much to see and the people are really friendly... We could have stayed a week in Shangri La alone, just to be able to explore the area more extensively. We'll definitively shall return!

We stayed mostly in the ancient city due to the rain. Could not visit the other locations. While in the ancient city, we realised that the mushroom hotpot and BBQ is everywhere, it’s very touristy. Some bakery looks so good but not worth the try. What we really enjoyed more were the small local joints. There’s some exceptional good coffee places along unpopular streets. Which you may find them online. I was there during off peak season, so it was nice, streets were not too crowded. Everywhere in the ancient city Dali, you can explore via foot, just make sure you have a good pair of walking shoes. I do wish to stay longer and explore the less popular streets and enjoy the weather.

A beautiful place with many places to visit. Weather can be a little unpredictable. Just buy new clothes if you have to. There are many options and an excuse to revamp your closets. Many options to eat from the snacks to restaurants. Payments are seemless and 90% digital. Make sure you download your Alipay and Wechat. Tho google is useless it can still be use as a guide. Overall... Its a cheaper option than US and Europe.

Dali is a working city with lots of natural beauty all around. The lake Erhai and mountains were easily accessible and well worth visiting. The Three Pagodas complex is another place to visit and experience. Food options are extensive in Dali, from vegan to yak hot pot!

For me this place is over rated .

For me this place is over rated . Firstly this place is very much " designed" to attract tourism. If it is not for the unique temples , buildings and old villages of the Tibetian, their religion influence internal and to the community there which existed many decades ago, the Nepahai Plains, ShangriLa has not much to offer for tourist. Many business commercialise focuses on food and local delicacies. There are not many heritage location or attractive places to visit. While good natural reserves like Pudacao National Park, a big part of it have been largely closed to visitors. Quite disappointed .

Super clean city, very quiet as everything is electric. We don’t speak Mandarin, but everyone really tried to help, translate to help The metro is spotlessly clean and really great. Try the ethnic village; old town etc, we were super surprised how nice it is We definitely back! Change cash as foreign card does not work, except the ATM.
