The property was excellent - very new, clean and fresh. Our room was great. A good size with a balcony which was perfect. A good location - close everything and staff that were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. There are any a restaurant onsite but they serve a good breakfast and you can order in from an extensive menu on Sundays when most of the restaurants are closed

Our stay at the LOFT Hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and accommodating, upgrading our room without the need to request it and providing a nightly warm tea service that was an unexpected treat. The hotel is conveniently located in an excellent, safe shopping zone with many excellent restaurants within walking distance. We appreciated the covered, basement parking garage as we were able to keep our purchases right in the car. Breakfast in the onsite restaurant was original, with local flavors and impeccable service. Cleanliness was excellent. Honestly, I found myself asking why this was not classified as a four-star hotel. Without a doubt I would recommend this to friends and family and plan to return here if ever in the area again.

Ipiales is about 20 mins driving from Las Lajas which was...

Ipiales is about 20 mins driving from Las Lajas which was named as the most beautiful church in South America. After I wend there, I agreed that it is very beautiful and the design is unique. Ipiales is also 10 mins driving from the border to Ecuador. I had no issue to cross the land border in 15 mins.

People are NOT FRIENDLY, bad acctitud. If you go to a restaurant even great ones you PAY FIRST and them you get your meal served. I went to don pollo and paid first, badrooms were disgusting and the food came with roches. we left leaving the food served on the table.

There is nothing in Ipiales.

There is nothing in Ipiales. It's a dirty place, with shady characters that you wouldnt miss much by skipping this place completely. However, it's THE border town so you have to go here. While you're here make the best of it! Definitely go to Las Lajas Sanctuary during your stay. If Ipiales is a 0, Las Lajas Sanctuary is a 10!

Traffic in the city is very heavy, bordering on chaotic.

Traffic in the city is very heavy, bordering on chaotic. Taxis are recommended by this traveller. I would never try to drive there. You must know Spanish, or you will be lost. A good translator app is helpful. A very nice restaurant is the Catedral Cafe, near the beautiful San Juan de Pasto Cathedral. We also enjoyed the Casona Taminango historical museum and day trips to the amazing Sanctuary of Las Lajas and the Laguna de la Cocha, where we took a boat excursion to the Isla La Corota and had the best trout ever at the Rancho Grande Restaurant.

It is a lovely city to connect with nature.

It is a lovely city to connect with nature. Very clean has great public transportation. Best part is the people! They are friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to visit! Laguna de la Cocha, La cascada y Basílica de Sandoval, the Waterfalls hot springs! However Maragato Fall has no access! Is no longer available to public but it is on google maps as a must see.
