We stopped for the night here as is bang in the middle between Madrid and Algarve. We were very lucky to have booked for that one day when all guests had left and new guests would come in after we left so we had this lovely home to ourselves This property is an amazing find. Lovingly appointed with so many creative touches. Spotlessly clean with all amenities one would need in a home. Jorge is fantastic, we parked at the door, walked in to a lovely sense of comfort, beautiful aesthetics and a warm welcome. Superb spread for breakfast (self-service:milk varieties, juices, cheeses, breads, cookies, waffles, spreads, teas, Nespresso pods and pans laid out for you to make your own eggs) For dinner amble about 50-75 metres to Jorge's friendly neighborhood bar (possibly the only one in this charming little town of 1000 residents). The bathroom has a great shower with all high end fittings and amenities. Bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our wine in the aptio sitting next to the pool. Thank you Jorge for an unforgettable experience

This was our first visit to Merida and we cant wait to return the place is steeped in Roman history and very easy to walk around some hills but generally easy walking. we stayed just outside the centre but the walk in was extremely beautiful if you go via the river path. if you don't fancy the walk there are bars and restaurants locally offering good tapas and main meals, I would definitely recommend Bar Carroza a short walk from our apartment and the best tostadas around.

this was our first time visiting Badajoz, and we were not disappointed the city itself offers something for all ages, we particularly liked the museums, and the roman sites of interest were very well maintained and not expensive to visit. A short stroll from the apartment and you entered one of the many squares where you can find bars and restaurants offering excellent tapas and full meals. the parking at the local car park (App required) was extremely cheap at 37€ for 6 days

In my case, I was looking for somewhere to break a 7 hour car journey, and Zafra just happened to be there. It's a nice town, with plenty of places to relax and to eat. We found good homemade horchata; and there's some really beautiful 15th century chapels and gates. The view from the top of the Parador was excellent - pano attached - even if we had to buy a coffee to count as a guest of the hotel. Best food we had was at "La Fea". We ordered starters and mains and the waitress looked worried, and said "they're very large...", so we settled for one starter and one main between us, and she was right!

It is a city with a lovely centre.

It is a city with a lovely centre. It is easy to wander around and it has lots of monuments to visit. Its cuisine is worth mentioning; you must try Iberian pork, not just the typical ham, but other parts of the animal too. Were I you, I would find out about the restaurants; it is essential to choose the most suitable one, not for the price, but for the quality of the product.

We stayed unplanned in town because of an emergency stop due to weather conditions. The location is great in the middle of Spanish country side but really not far away from Sevilla and Merida. Both magnificant places to visit. The town is the lhome of the Ham Museum. A small one but a very well mantained educational center with a guided tour for us. We found two stores in town just selling ham, and if you go online they ship all over Europe. The hotel we stayed is a spa we would have loved to explore. Next time:)

We spent two days in Merida which was enough time for us to visit the places in which we were interested. Upon arrival we went to the Tourist Office and the gentleman who assisted us was very helpful and enthusiastic, which was much appreciated. He recommended purchasing a ticket that covered entry to the major monuments, which we did. Unfortunately we did not find this to be value for money, although if you are an EU citizen it is because it is half the cost that we had to pay. At the time of our visit, some parts of the amphitheatre were inaccessible due to setting up for a forthcoming theatrical event and the Temple of Diana we felt was better viewed from outside, rather than within, especially since the explanations were only available in Spanish. We loved the Casa de Mitreo, which was fascinating to see. Despite the negatives, overall we really enjoyed our time in Merida and would definitely recommend visiting here.

The location is perfect, just off the motorway The parking facilities are good - plenty of room even with a trailer The whole hotel is very nice, nice room, powerful shower, spotlessly clean. There is petrol/diesel/echarging, a shop and restaurant with plenty of choice. We stay here regularly and have in the past always enjoyed a good breakfast. Sadly on this occasion, although it was only 8.30, the hot food was already eaten apart from a few long cooked eggs, by a coach party and although we hang around a while, not replaced, there was no fresh fruit and some basic facilities like bowls and spoons were no where to be seen. So for €9 each we had toast and coffee which was disappointing. But the coffee was nice.

Entering the city not exciting., but I didn’t want to stay in a big city of Seville ( I was going north Spain). 90 minutes from airport was just perfect to recover from jet lag. Plaza Mayor very pleasant- like most of the Spanish cities. Cobbled streets, small shops, cafes- add a nice atmosphere to the city.

Great hotel stop, travelling from Santander to Portugal. Hotel was very clean, room was great, there was good parking, it had a restaurant and a cafeteria with a bar, pool and gym. Lovely grounds at the back. My dog was also welcome. Only thing there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and no info re food serving times etc,. The hotel was just off the Motorway but still peaceful. Will most definitely stay again on our travels

The hotel is a boutique hotel with 9 rooms.

The hotel is a boutique hotel with 9 rooms. They are adequate but not 5star... our room had a problem with toilet door not shutting which we only discovered when we went to bed. It reduced our privacy considerably and should have been checked before our stay. On checking out I dropped some items on the floor and reached to get them. They were covered in dirt where the floor had not been cleaned/vacuumed properly. I paid for a 5star room and got less than a 3star one. The staff on hand were friendly and helpful and the food was terrific. The chef went out of his way to explain his menu. Breakfast was unique. It all gets served and is an interesting different breakfast. The views and quiet of the hotel are wonderful The central management team have not been helpful in resolving my issues with the room which is a great shame.
