Everything! What an absolute pleasure and luxury to stay here on the camino. You get the best of both worlds. Its part of one of the best pilgrim albergues on the Camino “Cuatro Cantones”. It shares the same garden and pool. But then you get your own private, airconditioned luxury bungalow with a comfortable bed, shower, coffee maker etc.

Home like stone cottage in immaculate condition inside and out. Set in a a semi rural area just 12 km from centre of Burgos this is a place to experience true Spanish small town living in a unique place that has had the whole tiny village refurbished with funds from EU and the lease of land to the wind farms. The property feels as if you are living back in time a few hundred years. Downstairs sits an eating area and kitchen set for breakfasts and a quaint lounge area with fireplace, piano and furnishings and knick knacks that suit the era of the house. We had a four poster bed in our room, the bathroom of the room had gorgeous recently refurbished look he again, suited the era of the build. The wooden shutters to close off light and keep in warmth etc are so beautiful . In our room we had 2 mini balconies which looked out over the rooftops. The bedding was crisp white linen, plenty of cupboards space, a desk a smart tv, lamps, heating, modern stand alone fan that did a good job . The streets are dead quiet at night - this town only has 500 people ! The breakfast served by young woman whose name starts with V, I have forgotten her name sorry but she is friendly and helpful, a little English to share with our little Spanish - and she wanted to assist us with our ideas on where to go next . I did not want to leave this house or this village especially when the lightning began in the hot evening sky and I could lie in bed and watch it through the double doors - so peaceful- I will come back I hooe one day .

This spa hotel has a fantastic location at the eastern end of Lake Ebro with stunning views all around. First opened in 1922, it continues to evoke the spirit of the past with its antique fixtures, fittings and furniture. Displays of photographs of the hotel in earlier times added to this atmosphere and we personally appreciated the décor and absence of computer and TV screens throughout most of the hotel (although there was a TV in the bedroom). Staff were very friendly and helpful, a number of them spoke good English and there appeared to plenty of staff to manage the needs of some large groups as well all the other guests. Our room was very spacious with wonderful views of the lake on two sides. The cafeteria is conveniently open all day and the restaurant provides a set 3 course lunch and dinner. We were impressed with our evening meal which was freshly prepared and served promptly. The spa area also was redolent of a former era with classic tiling and plumbing systems but still provided an enjoyable spa experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel for its olde worlde charm and the natural beauty of the area.

We have used the hotel several times as a stop-over on the way north to the ferry. It has always been a pleasant experience. Its location is very convenient, the rooms are comfortable and the staff are helpful. We normally eat in the cafeteria where the food is good and reasonably priced. We will be back.

This is a really good budget hotel, perfect if you are passing through. The location isn't the most scenic, being as the hotel shares it's exterior with a BP garage and the whole area is quite industrial with more garages and lorries parked up. This doesn't matter if your travelling coast to coast and just want a decent stopover. The hotel is clean and modern. The rooms are spacious with tv,, wi-fi and a shower bath combo. The hotel has a restaurant/cafeteria/bar combo which means you don't have to go out and search for something to eat, It also has a small shop, And I was able to park right outside, despite their website saying they didn't have any parking.

On previous visits to Lerma the town has been buzzing in the evenings, on this occasion, a Tuesday night in mid-June the entire place was shut making it very difficult to find somewhere for dinner. If you intend to visit do your research first to find what will be open.

Beautiful little village & cars kept out (ample parking on village outskirts). A number of bars in the town square to sit out at & listen to the swifts flying about. The monestry is in the center of the village & for a small fee , the cloisters are worth a visit. The bells toll every 1/4 hr - on time.

The city itself is nothing exceptional (nice church, pleasant swimming area at the river) but it is great base for sightseeing in this area as it is the middle of the region with plenty of natural mitacles, ruins and intetesting places. Rioseco Abbey and Puentedey (absolute "must see" in Northern Spain) are 15 minutes by car

We stayed in Hontanas while walking the Camino de Santiago because nothing was available in Hornillos del Camino, our planned stop. The village is down in a hole, so it can't be seen until you're only a very short distance away. Walking in during heavy rain, we weren't sure that the village's existence wasn't an elaborate practical joke.

Came specifically to see the total solar eclipse we chose Burgos mainly because of the good transport link with Madrid on the high speed train. I'm not really a city person in general, but Burgos with its cathedral and castle and other historical architecture, the museums, artisan shops, the river and nice walks it was very nice. also liked seeing the geckos and wall lizards. I wish we had a few extra days to visit more of the attractions.
