I don’t know where to begin as literally everything was wonderful: - Location was perfect (2’ by foot to a great beach in Migjorn) - The food was amazing (both breakfast and dinner) - The restaurant setting downstairs is very cosy and they provide often life music while eating, which was really nice - The rooftop offers great views and cocktails - The room had many ammenities (a.o. products from Le Labo) - Above all, the people were extremely friendly and thoughtful and even did a few extras because of our anniversary we were celebrating there. Thank you so much!!

Lovely property in the center of the island, close to a charming Sant Francesc town. The apartments are spacious, clean, with comfortable beds, good shower amenities, fully equipped kitchen, breakfast served on the terrace of your apartment, very kind and helpful team - all this makes you feel like home. The apartments are not right at the beach, but you can use different means of transportation (except renting a car), so it’s not a problem.

Formentera highlights

Cap de Barbaria Lighthouse

This lighthouse has an underground grotto which opens out onto a spectacular viewing platform looking out to the sea.

Cycling

Formentera's cycling routes take you around the island and past pretty coves, deserted beaches and picturesque villages.

Illetes Beach

This long, thin beach is one of the island's foremost chill-out spots, and at low tide it connects with the island of Espalmador.

Migjorn and Llevant Beaches

Migjorn and Llevant beaches are quiet, scenic beaches popular with families, located away from the crowds of Illetes and Es Pujols.

Sant Francesc

This whitewashed town has a pure beauty reminiscent of the Greek islands. It has an 18th-century church and traditional flour mills.

Es Pujols Nightlife

Es Pujols is Formentera's stand-out nightspot, with a lively street packed with bars and popular nightclubs, such as Xueño and Blue Bar.

Cala Saona

Surrounded by rocky coves and peppered with loungers, this beach is popular for windsurfing, sunbathing and enjoying the sunset.

Es Caló

Fresh fish is dried out on the roofs of Es Caló’s traditional fisherman’s huts, to be used in Formentera’s payesa salad.

FAQs about hotels on Formentera

Waiting to be discovered

The smallest of the main Balearic Islands, Formentera is more laidback and, on the whole, less touristy than its bigger neighbours. It doesn’t have an airport, so most arrivals are via ferry from Ibiza Town or Denia on the Costa Blanca. Unlike the other Balearics, it is largely flat, making it good for cycling and hiking. However, it does still have the beautiful beaches, craggy coves and crystal clear waters so typical of this island group. Another contrast is Formentera’s liberal policy on nude sunbathing - it is allowed on many beaches. One of the longest beaches is at Platja de Migjorn where the white sands shelve gently into the sea. On the other side of this stretch of land is Es Caló where most Formentera apartments by the beach are found. The sand dunes at Es Pujols are also fantastic, and just inland is Estanh Pudent a large lagoon that attracts rich birdlife. On the other side of the lagoon is La Savina, arrival point for the ferries and a good starting point for Formentera sailing trips. The capital Sant Francesc Xavier has a whitewashed, 18th-century church at its centre and a few Formentera hotels with pools on Booking.com.

The location was excellent, steps away from the beach, in a quiet area. The sleep quality was amazing too because of that. The room was clean. The gardens were beautiful, the swimming pool, the restaurant, everything was excellent. The staff was very helpful with different requests. I loved my stay and would definitely come back. I took the half board and both breakfast and dinner were great.

The hotel has one of the best locations on Formentera. It’s beautiful and simple, and right by the sea. You fall asleep to the sound of the waves. It has all you need. Breakfasts are very pleasant. The owner and staff is very nice. Why would you opt for huge, impersonal hotels - if you can get this very humane, simple “sun & sea” experience. Just perfect!

Formentera is an island that does not suit everyone.

Formentera is an island that does not suit everyone. However, if it does suit you will repeat as we do year after year. EsPujols is ideal having everything to hand with the town and beaches. However, other locations are as good and transport excellent. An island to explore, particularly Ses Illetes and Playa Levante

Playa Mjgjorn is a long stretch of beach, some bits wider and better than others. I'd tend to stick to properties to the west of the south coast for best beach option and access. It's a lovely spot and if you have transportation you can get around easily. Number L2 bus serves Ca Mari well. Great sunsets, and some nice little beach bars dotted around. Limited vegetarian options throughout!

I think La Savina is the best place to stay if you’re visiting Formentera.. You’re close to the port so no taxis needed when you arrive and leave. Also, great choice of bike rental places ( which is the best way to visit the island). It also has lots of restaurants. Other places like Els Pujols, Playa del Mijorn or Es Calo are lovely, but limited ,and you’ll need a car or taxi to get there.

San Ferrán de ses Roques is a hidden gem in the heart of...

San Ferrán de ses Roques is a hidden gem in the heart of Formentera, perfect for those who want to discover the island's authentic soul. It’s a welcoming and peaceful village, yet full of life, especially in the evenings when the streets come alive with locals and tourists mingling in bars and restaurants. One of the things I appreciated most is the relaxed and genuine atmosphere. You can find artisan markets here, with local artists displaying their creations, and small cafés where you can stop for a coffee or a beer. San Ferrán has preserved its authenticity, far from mass tourism, offering a much more laid-back experience compared to the busier areas of the island. As for the food, the village restaurants serve delicious dishes, many based on fresh seafood and local products. I highly recommend trying the tapas at one of the traditional restaurants: simple yet flavorful, they’ll make you feel like a true islander. Additionally, its central location makes San Ferrán an ideal base for exploring Formentera: within a few minutes by scooter or bike, you can reach the most beautiful beaches and interesting spots on the island. It’s the perfect place for those looking for authenticity, tranquility, and a taste of local culture.

Quiet area but a lovely hotel and exactly what we were looking for. A 15 minute taxi from the main port and the bars and restaurants in es Pujols. You can get to anywhere on the island within 20 minutes. Although we had no issue with getting taxis, if we go again we will definitely hire a scooter to get round the island more easily. We ate at the hotel Cala Soana restaurant one night (incredible) and the other we went in to Es Pujols. There are lots of great restaurants along the front and some cheaper ones a few streets back from the coast if you’d prefer

Probably the best town on the island, with nice beach, good choice of bars and restaurants and shops. Perfect area for families or couples. Easy access to the rest of the island by car, moped or cycle- everything within 10-15 minutes drive. If you want best value for money choose the bars and restaurants away from the beachfront.

4 stars, really.

4 stars, really. It’s more like 1 1/2 to 2 stars hotel at best. The costs for what you get is way to exagerated. I have no problem at all to pay for something, but this was by far the worst experience i got for what i payed for. To sum it up: beach mediocre with alot of alges, rooms at best 2 star level, food expect the cheapest things you can buy for money, that’s the quality of food. Reception is a nightmare! Good things: animation is doing their best and it’s ok… and at least the staff is cleaning every day. Save your money, you get alot of better hotel around the world for this price. Way to overrated and too expensive.

Es Pujols is a bustling town with a very good selection of shops and eating places. It has probably tripled in size since I first visited in 1984. There are market stalls at the beachfront every evening in the high season. Some of the restaurants are very expensive and over priced, but some of the more traditional restaurants are more reasonable. I would avoid staying right in the centre of the town as it could be noisy.

Playa Migjorn is a stunning beach with so many different contrasts. At the hotel it was very calm with some rocks and clear but further along just cristal clear then at the top end more wild and rocky but with clear water. The beach bars are all so different, our favourite Kiosko 62 is on the beach with cristal clear water and not such a busy part of the beach. Stunning sunsets and some boating activity. Views from the hotel bar and restaurant were stunning.
