There is a really good restaurant on site called Aqui if I’m not mistaken. It offers quality food at a reasonable price. The staff is nice, they were really helpful. Water in 5 liter bottles is available at the reception for a minimal amount as the tap water’s taste is not the best on the island. In July the water temperature was around 25 degrees Celsius. The sand was soft with traces of black in it. The best part was that we had no algee in th water like we had in Tenerife for example. That water was really clean and some waves (~1m) were also present from time to time. There was no shade except for some trees. Also, the foot showers worked well. Lacy’s apartment made Maspalomas very good for us, otherwise it’s too busy and fabricated. It’s for mass Turism but attractive places though. I first visited Puerto Rico when I was 19 ....I am now 61 and have been a regular visitor throughout. In fact I lived there for 12 years and owned an apartment for 15 years. Possibly my opinion is biased, but having visited all the other Canarian islands, I would say that the area between Melanores and Mogan offers most things to most people, and as Puerto Rico is the centre of that area, its quite simply a great place to base your holiday - I for one will always return !Guest review bymarkUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely quiet area, not very commercial which was perfect. Lovely promenade walk along the sea front. Not many English which was fine. Had a couple of great nights out and explored a bit of the island. Enjoyed El Capitan on the beach… great staff, decent prices and tasty food. Great Italian in the commercial centre…and a night out in the The Rose bar. This is a quiet, relaxing and friendly town.
This is a quiet, relaxing and friendly town. There is a wide variety of restauants with friendly staff and also a very good array of shops. The town features dining on the beachfront and in the harbour area. There are lots of couples and young families. It is not rowdy or noisy. There is a fabulous viewing point above the town and a very well connected public bus system. It is an hour from the airport and costs just under 7 euro one way. This was a great location for our holiday in January. Agaete is not a tourist area but has access to walks from the apartment. Driving into the mountains to see tourist attractions and find other walking routes did take sometime due to the winding mountain roads.
