Amazing, I was welcome by Kalifa when I arrived and since night one he has done everything he could to make my stay exceptional. The place is nice, clean and calm, the Staff are all very welcoming, the Manager Mustafa, the housekeeping lady Fatou, my brother KAL, the night gard Elhaj, Usman in charge of the pool maintenance and few guests I've met there like Ibrahim really made me want to stay longer. Thanks to everyone of them. Will definitely come back again.

I love ❤️ everything about the property. The location, size of the apartment, amenities within the apartment, room size, all the very friendly and accommodating staff who are always ready to please. The impeccable service received right from the checking in to checking out. The manager Mr Aziz was very patient and never lost composure throughout when dealing with clients.

I liked the location, which was close to the place where you can book bird-watching tours. There were bird-watching platforms. You could order a taxi with the option to have it wait for up to two hours. The staff were very helpful.

As a family we would definitely return for a holiday.
As a family we would definitely return for a holiday. We felt that being able to relax by a pool would have compensated for noisy teatime traffic, which was very noticeable while sitting on the balcony.

Fajara is a quieter and local neighbourhood that is still used to tourists! If that is what you are looking for, it is perfect! If you are looking for something more touristy, and a little closer to all the restaurants and resorts, I would recommend the Senegambia

I came to the region for enjoying the swimming but in winter time waters may be quite cold and the air is hot only around midday till 4 p. m. so better be early if wishing to do some water sports without getting cold. The sea is warmer than pools but quite harsh.

Bakotu Hotel is situated in a square blessed with good restaurants and a nice and small traditional craft market. So there's good food to be had outside the hotel too. Our was Flavors where we had an excellent butterfish with lime & garlic sauce dish. Further along beach there are the usual fruit drink sellers, one of our favourites was Aladdin (and no he didn't have a carpet). Also along the beach beyond the crossable creek is Kunte Kinte Restaurant, a good place, where you can get a sunlounger and food and drink (inc. local favourite of ours, the one and only Pink Drink (baobab & wonjo). There are many people selling their wares on the beach moost are pleasant and friendly and will accept a firm and polite excuse and move on. We did buy a few things though, the costs were so low.
Closer to Kotu Sq, the ladies in orange tops sell juices and massages Ayesha seem to be friendliest and most outgoing of these ladies. Ayesha & her colleague gave us a relaxing back, neck and head massage before our flight home.

Vast choice of elegant accomadation, restaurants, sports bar, nightclubs and golf club too!
Access to ATM and beach 10 minute walk from most accomadation in this area.
Very easy to walk around the area although transport is ready available.

Accomodation is ok.Just be carefull in the area..Gambia has changed.I had my first experience with attempted robbery.But also had my first free taxiride to Senegambia with a fellow passenger..who asked for my number..for a sexdate..So its up and down

The lodges are comfortable with ensuite bathroom and shower. There isn't AC but was plenty comfortable enough with a ceiling fan. There is hot running water in the room when you need to have a warm shower although most of the time I took a cool shower. I moved here from one of the 'Hotel Castles by the Sea' that were overcrowded and overpriced for the standard of accommodation there. Kotu Island lodge presents a friendly, personal and quiet atmosphere. You can chat with Terry, the owner who is a very nice man. True Gent! Its only a few minutes walk to the beach and you get the great atmosphere of living in amongst the community. I wholly recommend a stay here. Thak you Terry. You are a great host.
