Beautiful little island, unspoiled original Greece. 110 permanent inhabitants, 350 cats, a donkey, some wild goats and fortunately not too many tourists. No need for a car (there is no petrol station). There is a taxi and minibus service and a fishing boat to get to various beaches. No organized beaches so water, food and a beach umbrella are definitely recommended.Guest review byThanasisGreece - 10.0
An absolute gem of an island, quaint and peaceful.
An absolute gem of an island, quaint and peaceful. If you want to get away from it all and experience a pure island, I would suggest that you visit Donoussa. All of the local people were so friendly and hospitable, I want to return, hopefully in the near future. We stayed at Stenosa, which we would definitely recommend. Beautifully appointed rooms, exquisitely furnished and the most wonderful hosts, who made us feel so welcomed.Guest review byKimUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Donousa is a small island, perfect if you want only relaxing and not having to drive 40-50 minutes and more to go to a beach. It has 4 main beaches: Stavros (next to the port, but that doesn't mean the water is dirty - on the contrary it's very clear and nice), Kedros (accessible through a 15 minute walk tops), Livadi (accessible by car and then a walk for 20-25 minutes or, better, by a small boat), Fokospilia (where you can go only by boat and dive) and Kalotaritissa (25-30 minutes drive with car, taxi or the local bus if you are lucky and it's working properly). I can't say i enjoyed the food. I found some good options, mostly in the restaurant Iliovasilema. Some told me Agnanti and Ampelaki are also good. I would not recommend strongly any other. Maybe the tavern in Kalotaritissa. I liked that the island has many cats and the locals are taking care of them. As for the nightlife, the place to be is Skantzohiros (it's exactly across the port). You can chat, you can flirt, you can dance. A friend who has been there 3 times told me about the bar at the beach Stavros, but i never saw too many people there. If i had to rate mh experience, i would rate it with 7/10Guest review byΣτέργιοςGreece
