Stay Golden is one of the best places to stay at Arugam Bay. It’s probably the best place close to Main Point, in case you are there for the surfing, which was my case. It’s a 15min walk to the surf spot. Everything worked pretty well at the hotel. Room was spacious, very clean, well decorated, with excellent bed, quiet ac and nice bathroom. Staff was amazing, always smiling and ready to help you. Even though there are many places to go out for lunch and dinner at town, Stay Golden restaurant was high score. Had one of the best meals around. Breakfast options were very good too.

We had a fantastic stay at Aprota Villas during our recent trip to Arugam Bay. From start to finish, our experience was exceptional. We stayed in a spacious and beautifully designed Chalet that was both elegant and comfortable. The excellent service was complemented by quality food, which was a highlight of our stay. Priyantha and his team were excellent in providing an exceptional service. We relied on the WiFi throughout our stay and were impressed by how fast and consistent it was from all areas of the property. The property itself is stunning—a true beachfront haven with gorgeous main swimming pool set within lovely, manicured gardens. It’s the ideal choice for anyone seeking a luxurious and peaceful holiday in a breathtaking environment in Arugam Bay. We cannot recommend Aprota Villas highly enough!

We loved our stay at this hotel. The views from the balcony are absolutely stunning, and being right on the beachfront makes it even more special. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. They also offer amazing yoga classes, perfect for relaxing and connecting with the surroundings. Check in was seamless and they welcomed us with fresh pineapple juice which was a great touch after the drive. The beach beds were a highlight, spent most of the afternoon just lying there watching the waves. AC was working perfectly which matters a lot in Arugam Bay heat. Compared to other places in the area, the value for money here is genuinely hard to beat, especially with breakfast included.

A great getaway! We had a wonderful time relaxing by the Indian Ocean, with a beautiful swimming pool that the kids absolutely loved. The meals were excellent, and the bungalows were very comfortable, featuring both indoor and outdoor showers. Each bungalow could easily accommodate four people. The kids also enjoyed a fantastic massage — a real highlight of their stay.

Arugam Bay is one of the most beautiful and relaxed beach destinations in Sri Lanka, especially معروف for surfing and its laid-back atmosphere. It’s a perfect mix of nature, beach life, and local culture. My favourite places were the main beach and the famous surf point, where you can watch surfers from morning to sunset. I also really enjoyed visiting nearby spots like Pottuvil Lagoon for a peaceful nature experience and elephant sightings. There are plenty of great places to eat in Arugam Bay. You can find everything from local Sri Lankan rice and curry to fresh seafood and international dishes. Many beachfront restaurants offer a great vibe in the evening. Getting around Arugam Bay is quite easy. Most places are within walking distance, and tuk-tuks are always available if you want to explore nearby areas. Renting a scooter is also a good option for more freedom. For solo travellers, Arugam Bay is very safe and welcoming. Surfing is the main activity, but you can also enjoy yoga classes, lagoon tours, wildlife safaris, and beach relaxation. It’s easy to meet other travellers here, making it a great place to visit alone. Overall, Arugam Bay is a must-visit destination if you’re looking for a peaceful beach holiday with adventure and a friendly community.

Comparatively far from Colombo compared to other attractions such as downsouth. Beach is good but there are selective places good for a sea bath. Good place to stay if you are visiting Kumana wildlife sanctuary.

You are more likely to meet a European than a local here.

You are more likely to meet a European than a local here. This is definately not a reflection on Sri Lankan culture, however the beach town is slow and quiet (realtively speaking) and there are plenty of shops and restaurants. And of coure, the surf is consistent and the water warm. It's a winner for a beach holiday.
