AustriaWe had an absolutely wonderful stay at Amba Yalu in Sigiriya. The staff were incredibly attentive and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome from the very first moment.
Both the breakfast and dinner were outstanding. The Sri Lankan cuisine in particular was exceptional—clearly prepared with great care and attention to detail.
The location is truly breathtaking. The hotel is set right by a lake and features a beautiful open reception area that blends perfectly with the surroundings. The garden is lush, well-maintained, and filled with numerous mango trees, creating a peaceful and unique atmosphere. The pool, located in the middle of this garden, is simply stunning.
We also had a fantastic yoga experience and truly enjoyed the Ayurvedic treatments, which added an extra level of relaxation to our stay.
Our room was very comfortable and pleasant, providing the perfect space to unwind after a day of exploring.
From the hotel, all major sights in the area are easily accessible by car, which makes it a perfect base for exploring Sigiriya.
We had a fantastic time at Amba Yalu and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the region

FranceWe had a great stay with Asanka and his family. First of all the property is perfectly equipped & very clean and tidy. You can tell everything has been done with attention to detail and a high standard. It is also separated enough from the main house to have privacy. What we appreciated the most was the generous & warmhearted hosting - it was exceptional, and we really enjoyed getting to know more of the local culture this way.
The place is a short 10-minute walk from the busier main street, so you get to enjoy some extra piece and quiet with deliciously cooked breakfast. The host gave us excellent recommendations and helped us visit nearby attractions.
We hope to come again!

Sri LankaWe stopped here planning on just staying for one night but as my husband was not well stayed for two.
The hotel is small however the rooms are very spacious. The staff are amazing and very friendly, especially Bernard who went above and beyond to ensure my husband was looked after. He even bought some local medicine for him which thankfully worked.
The meals are all freshly cooked and the chef always came to chat and make sure that everything was to our liking.
It is close to Lion Rock which was amazing to see.

IrelandThis was a wonderful stay with an even more wonderful family. They make some amazing food! The treehouse is on their garden (but quite private at the back sheltered by trees) and looks amazing. There are peacocks and monkeys running around the garden (or close to it) which felt like a Safari on its own (they stay a good distance away so it feels safe too). They have a cute puppy on premises who likes to play. The location is super close to the centre via Tuk tuk & the treehouse is very comfortable to stay in.

The most amazing stay in Sri Lanka. Resort is surrounded by forest & lakes from all sides. Huge landscape with a direct view to the most famous Sigiriya rock. My villa had its own plunge pool facing the jungle and I was so lucky to see elephants passing by while in it. This was truly an amazing experience. Villa is huge & spacious, very clean. Staff here is so friendly and very attentive to you. They will spoil you with their love and care, I will miss their beautiful smiles. Ayurveda treatments were exceptionally good. Therapist was so kind and did an amazing job. Had a lovely herbal bath which was so relaxing with zero disturbance as it was too facing the jungle, one can only hear birds. Meals & snacks were mouthwateringly tasty. They only serve very healthy options at meal times. I wish I had more time to spend here, but most certainly be back. A big thanks to everyone at Ayugiri for this amazing experience.

We had an amazing stay at Water Garden Sigiriya. The whole place is so peaceful, and it felt like we were surrounded by nature – perfect for a relaxing getaway. Our room was incredible – super spacious and comfortable, and having our own private pool was definitely a highlight!
The food was great; every meal was delicious, and you could tell a lot of care went into it. The service was also fantastic, especially from Sashi, Thamidu, and Dilshan, who made our stay even more enjoyable. They were friendly and always ready to help with anything we needed.
Overall, it was such a memorable experience, and we left feeling completely recharged. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a mix of relaxation and great hospitality!

Everything was perfect. We booked last minute and they were super kind and responsive, making everything easy for us. The welcome was warm and genuine, and the food really stood out: delicious dishes with generous portions, clearly prepared with love and attention by the passionate chef. We had made a special breakfast request and they happily made sure it was ready for us, which we really appreciated. The room was spacious and comfortable, and although we didn’t have time to try them, the treatments and massages looked really inviting. Before we left, they even prepared some snacks for our trip, a thoughtful gesture that made us feel truly cared for. Highly recommended!

A stunning location and a resort with a unique feel to it. We loved that the rooms are all tucked away among rice paddies, lily ponds, or open out onto the water body that teems with bird life, fish, and some crocs. We appreciated the nature-conscious philosophy of the hotel and their efforts to respect the wildlife of the area. The evening dining is very good, the rooms beautiful, spacious, and tasteful and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The heat is quite something so we really recommend the rooms with small plunge pools.

This was our 4th visit to Wild Grass and once more it didn't disappoint. Loved everything!
Wild Grass is absolutely stunning and so peaceful. The villas are very modern but sympathetic to the surroundings and so spacious. AC was very efficient. And the bathroom!!! Loved it, especially the outdoor shower.
Since our last visit some of the villas now have pools overlooking the lake. I'm so glad we decided to go with one of these rooms.
The staff and Mr Nimal all went out of their way to be helpful.

We stay there 3 nights and it was amazing experience. All the staff was very kind, always taking care of all the details, it was our honeymoon and they give us a cake for dessert on our first meal.
Our flight arrived in the middle of the night and we arrived at the hotel at 5:00AM and they prepare our room and allow us to do the check in earlier. It was super comfortable.
All the team are incredible.
We recommend Aliya Resort without any doubt. Thank you for all, team.

The hotel is amazing. It has 3 amazing pools with a great view on the lake. It is surrounded by nature (and wild monkeys!!). The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Also the breakfast buffet is incredible. Finally, the staff is incredibly kind and professional. A special mention must go to Dulsha working in the Cafe Kachchan who made our stay all the more unique.

We were lucky enough to get a great deal and this hotel was incredible value for money. The room was spotless, the food was amazing (buffet) and the staff were friendly. The pool was clean and had an awesome view of Sigiriya Rock. The acoustic performers were very talented. We also had a Balinese massage which was also really nice!

It is very close to the lions rock and everything is there within very close proximity. If you are a nature lover, this is the best place to visit. Friendly staff and serving with a smile.. one of the best experience and plan for minimum 2 days.. one day is not enough.

We absolutely loved Sigiriya.
We absolutely loved Sigiriya. There were so many incredible things to do. We hiked up Pidurangala rock where the views of Lion rock and surrounds were breathtaking. Then was the climb up Lion Rock. This was also amazing and so unique. Looking back at my photos now I'm home I am still so in awe of how beautiful it was.To top off our stay, we did an elephant safari for half the day and saw so many elephants. It was such a fun day. I would highly recoend going to see the Dambulla cave temple if you have time. The size of the buddahs and the inticate patterns on the walls ceilings were so beautiful.
There are so many restaurants along the main road and the food was delicious. You can easily spend 3 days or more here and not be bored. I would highly recomend it.

Dambulla is a great city with significant historical value...
Dambulla is a great city with significant historical value in Sri Lanka, especially known for the Dambulla Cave Temple and the Pidurangala Rock hike.
To avoid the high heat in the afternoon, I recommend visiting Pidurangala early in the morning or in the evening. An early morning hike offers an amazing and beautiful sunrise view.
You can visit the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple at any time, but climbing the rock steps can be difficult in the afternoon due to the heat.

The town is a little gem.
Small enough to walk, easy streets to negotiate, great views, moderate temperatures, great food at half Kandy prices, a harmonious mix of Muslim, Tamil, and Sinhala citizens, there is a lot to appreciate in Matale.

Visit to lion rock was a very good experience.
Visit to lion rock was a very good experience. But since my stay in Lanka was total of 8 days didn't want to do Pidurangala the next day. If you're keen on wildlife especially birds do keep an eye out, spotted around 12 different species. Lots of stray dogs, got chased by one too 😅.

Dambulla is a wonderful place to stay, ideally located for exploring many nearby attractions on easy day trips. The Dambulla Cave Temple is our favourite highlight, and we especially loved its peaceful surroundings. Throughout our stay, we enjoyed delicious traditional food, which was truly exceptional. The people are incredibly friendly and always helpful, adding to the overall charm of the experience. Dambulla is also home to a large river and an international cricket ground, making it a great place to visit for cricket lovers when matches are on. Getting around is very convenient, with options including private tuk-tuk hire, self-drive tuk-tuks, or public buses. Dambulla is our favourite place to relax, explore, and truly enjoy a holiday in Sri Lanka.

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

Sigiriya is fine the problem is the stupidity of the facility management in that place, I think it has tried to go in too much truistic direction we have completely lost in touch with reality, I am a Sri Lankan traveling with my German partner, and we found it quite difficult to find where to go to and conveniently get our tickets and enter the location, you have to park in a specific place for tourists, and locals separately and then go to two different locations to just get the stupid pre printed ticket and then go in two separate lines in the security to just rip off the stupid tickets even when there was no one on the queue at the security,. I think its just has become stupider over time and totally useless, and also everything in Sigiriya is not changed and new routs and things are being changed and its not the same place anymore, I think they need to find a way to protect what it used to be rather than change so much.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale.
Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.
