very new and beautifull hotel, spacious and clean room, just few speps from the ocean, very friendly and helpful stuff. A bit far from the airport but stuff helped to arrange transfer to us in advance. Super nice place to stay for couple of nights and great beggining of the trip, highly reccomended!

Roshan and his family and friends are warm and welcoming, going the extra mile to make your stay comfortable and worthwhile. There were personal touches everywhere from the greeting from Roshan before our arrival to his personally greeting us as we arrived. All the food is home cooked and traditional. They use local organic products for meals and serve everything with care. The surroundings are exactly what you hope to see when you book a home stay near a wildlife reserve - very raw, beautiful jungle while still being kept clean and neat and safe.

We spent two nights here and it was perfect. Prathap is the sweetest and most caring owner and organises everything that you may wish for. We did a half-day safari and a boat tour. The food was amazing and we definitely recommend trying the sri lankan food and breakfast during your stay. Everything is prepared freshly. The hotel is located in a very calm and peaceful area where you can unwind and just relax during your holiday. Thank you Prathap and we will see you and your cat hopefully again soon.

What a wonderful stay we had at Taru Villas. We booked last minute and were greeted warmly by Mark when we arrived. We quickly realised that as it was low season, we had the entire hotel to ourselves! We were upgraded to the best room on the property with a gorgeous jacuzzi overlooking the jungle. The room was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Full board was included in the room price and we enjoyed an outstanding 3 course breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked specially for us by the chef. The key highlight for us was the outstanding service and friendliness of the staff. They couldn’t do enough for us. A lovely touch at the end of our trip was that they had arranged for us to plant a tree in their gardens, and had prepared a beautiful plaque with our names inscribed. It was a truly memorable trip and couldn’t have been any better. I highly recommend to everyone!

An Absolute Hidden Gem – Pure Magic at Dolphin Beach Resort I stayed at Dolphin Beach Resort for one night with my friend Arif, and honestly, I’m still dreaming about it. This place is gorgeous—a hidden gem tucked away in serene Kalpitiya that deserves way more attention than it gets. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted. The property is huge, incredibly clean, and so peaceful that it felt like time slowed down. The architecture is stunning—eco-chic in the best way. We stayed in one of their luxury tents, and let me just say... it was out of a dream. Spacious interiors, a thoughtfully designed bathroom, and an outdoor shower that made me feel like I was in a nature-luxe fantasy. The view? Breathtaking. There's even a windmill nearby that adds a rustic charm to the horizon, and we loved it—it added so much character to the vibe. The pool was picture-perfect, and the whole atmosphere just made us feel like we had escaped to our own private paradise. Dinner was beautifully arranged—delicious, fresh, and served with care. In the morning, we asked if we could have breakfast by the beach, and they went out of their way to set it up for us. That gesture alone won my heart. I truly don’t understand why this place isn’t packed—maybe that’s part of its charm. But trust me, more people need to discover this slice of heaven. I’ll definitely be going back. If you're looking for peace, beauty, and something extraordinary, Dolphin Beach Resort is the place.

I started learning wing foil, and I was lucky with both the wind and my instructor, Dani, who was very patient and calm. The overall experience has been amazing — one of the best moments of my trip to Sri Lanka! The wooden bungalow was beautiful, and it’s about a 10-minute walk to the lagoon. The atmosphere is really nice, with kitesurfers and wingfoilers from all over the world. The food is delicious, prepared by Charlie, and Paco’s cocktails at the bar are great too. I also enjoyed the morning yoga class with views over the lagoon... all in all, a unique experience in a stunning setting. Thank you, Margarita, for this wonderful discovery

We had a wonderful stay almost the entire hotel to ourselves since it seemed to be low season. Our Vila was very big and clean and comfortable. The bathroom outside was really nice although I never went out by myself lol. Be careful squirrels that go in your room to look for food but are harmless!! The breakfast was good and the pool always clean. Beautiful walk to the beach.

Perfect stay at the Karanukarala Ayurveda resort, especially the Ayurveda treatment was wonderful. In the beginning, the crew told me it was fully booked, but in the end, they managed to schedule it for me. The room was big, and really clean and the beds were very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay there, especially to relax (recommend the yoga and meditation classes).

Kalpitiya is a very nice place to enjoy Kitesurfing in Sri Lanka. The atmosphere is very agreeable. The people are very pleasant and peacefull. There are plenty of places where to eat in Kudawa. It may just be a bit challenging on the first days to get the hang of it. Once understood, we don't want to leave it.

The Manager of the hotel and his staff (including 3 dogs and a cat) are above any praise. If you seek for a well organized place to rest without problems do come to Puetz Travels Beach Resort. Mr. Marcus will make your trip a real holyday. Even wild crocodiles that live in the nearby river dream to move to the magic canals of Puetz Travels Beach Resort. I wish i were among the lucky ones. Kalpitiya is an enchanting destination.

Kalpitiya is an enchanting destination. It's the only place in Sri Lanka where you can take kitesurfing lessons and safely practice kitesurfing with expert assistance from seasoned local kitesufers. Although it's generally considered an arid landscape, even in August, one of the driest months in Sri Lanka, it was largely green and without sweltering heat. Probably, the strong wind causes the heat to dissipate. There's a long stretch of fairly clean beach to explore. Many hotels to stay in and many restaurants to dine at. If you take the train from the Colombo fort railway station like me, you can get down at Palaviya station and walk about 100 metres to reach the road leading from Palaviya to Kalpitiya and take a bus from there and then get down at either Kurinjipitiya or Kalpitiya depending on where you plan to visit and/or stay in. Apart from Kitesurfing, you can go sightseeing, see dolphins, bask in the sunshine, take boat tours, cycle and more in Kalpitiya.

When going on safari, go at the crack of dawn as there is a queue of vehicles at the gate. So leave before 6am. Go for a whole day safari not a half day otherwise you’ll miss out some of the animals Great lots of wildlife. Also check out the weather as we had rain in the afternoon

You need a car or a Tuk Tuk to take you anywhere as it is away from any shops ect The hotel was very helpful and arranged a Tuk Tuk to take us to the market and religious site. Be mindful regarding the beaches as they are not fit to swim in due to the plastic rubbish and pollution in the water. We went for a walk on the beach but came back after a few hundred metres as it was too depressing to go any further due to the plastic rubbish all over the beach and the millions of microplastic balls that we thought were stones and then realised what it was. Very disturbing

Kalpitiya is a very beautiful destination.

Kalpitiya is a very beautiful destination. A place to stay for a few days. There are many places for you to enjoy and visit. But be careful when you find a place to stop. Be more careful with low-cost places. Dinuda Villas is a very beautiful place. Babzy and the team are doing very well.

Beautiful nature of the national park with the possibility...

Beautiful nature of the national park with the possibility of observing many wild animals, a paradise for bird watchers. If you are lucky, you can see a leopard or elephants. Very good accessibility by bus from Anuradhapura. Near the entrance to the park there is a large selection of accommodation and safari providers.
