Second time at this location but this time got to do more sightseeing than previous. Food in the bar area was good with good portion of meat/fish. Staff in the reception very helpful and liked to know we were back after the circular walks up the nearest mountain. This place does get busy with day trippers if a cruise ship arrives in Walvis Bay but the kitchen is well set up for the masses with pre booked lunches so this should be an issue ordering.

Swakop is a great place to visit for a break.

Swakop is a great place to visit for a break. It's seafood restaurant options are limited. Shopping facilities are very good, as are banking/ATM options. A challenge is that people of average income might be priced out as accommodation costs rise. The Garnish Restaurant (Indian) is an excellent example of international cuisine cooked exceptionally well. there was nowhere that had an active Dstv account, so it was impossible to watch key international sports events. THIS WAS DISAPPOINTING.....AGAIN

Walvis Bay is the more local beach town to stay in, where as...

Walvis Bay is the more local beach town to stay in, where as Swakopmund is the more touristy. This makes Walvis a bargain, but the beaches do have an undertoe and there is a major port in view from the beach. There is less shopping and less of a bar scene in Walvis, but there are flamingos! If you stay in Swakopmund, I highly recommend stopping by the Flamingo Villas hotel for lunch or dinner!

The room was very nice with a great bathroom. Towels and linen were top grade. Personnel handled us with respect and friendly. We had a great time at Omaruru. We had dinner in the bar which was very nice.

Henties was always a fishing destination.

Henties was always a fishing destination. The fishing is getting worse every year, and with the entire town infrastructure based on this fishing tourism industry, the powers that be need to take notice. You will soon loose this gem if you don't act now.

This is a residential area that includes vacation rentals.

This is a residential area that includes vacation rentals. It was quiet and felt safe. There are no shops. There are several large concrete pools that fill with seawater and are used for swimming. There is one small restaurant near the swimming area that is open limited hours during the off season.

Our two beds apartment on the second floor overlooking the ocean. It has almost everything you may need in the house for a day to day living.. it has a little braai area and some outdoor chairs and little tables that can be used at the balcony. Quiet neighborhood

Wilhelmstal is just a tiny place along the B2.

Wilhelmstal is just a tiny place along the B2. To reach Khan River Lodge you follow the signs that lead you 20 km from the tarred road B2 to the Lodge on sandy farm roads. The trip is no problem also for normal sedan cars. Food is offered at the lodge while self- catering is also a possibility. Their breakfast is very rich and nice. The lodge also offers game drives to their customers.

Swakopmund has a special place with me since I have been...

Swakopmund has a special place with me since I have been travelling there for over 7 years now. Have got to know the good and the "bad" restaurants in the town. Lots of history in this small town and close to many attractions in the area. I have done Dune 7 "walked it' I have done the quad and dune buggies trips into the dunes Close to Walvis so an easy day out to see Walvis attractions too In the north also some great places to visit - Windpump 14, Hentjies Bay and some small stops in between with wrecks and seal spotting.

The Waterfront of Walvis Bay is quite a vibe on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurants have a variety of delicious seafoods on the menu. I would recommend a boat trip from the Waterfront to see the diverse marine life of Walvis Bay, which include seals, dolphins, etc. A trip to the popular Dune 7, to try and climb one of the highest sand dunes is quite a treat. And off course, a guided tour on a quad bike through the sand dunes is quite and experience.

Omaruru was a lovely surprise.

Omaruru was a lovely surprise. It was a short trip to break our journey on the way to Swakopmund. Such a lovely, beautiful town with the loveliest and friendly people. Great restaurants with german cuisine, and very very safe. We walked around for hours at night and felt so safe.
