Absolutely everything about this place was perfect – from the rooms to the food, to the organization down to the tiniest detail. The cuisine was at the level of a Michelin-starred restaurant, with all ingredients sourced directly from the farm – fresh, organic, and healthy. It was, without a doubt, the most delicious food we have had during our entire stay in Africa. The attention to detail was remarkable: fresh flowers in our room, a sunshade set up for us by the pool the moment we arrived, and every request handled with a smile. The staff were exceptional – friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. The owner herself is warm, welcoming, and thoughtful. Evenings by the fireplace, overlooking the waterhole where animals gather, were simply magical. Every single aspect of our stay was flawless – truly an unforgettable experience.

Absolutely wonderful and friendly hosts Ulf and Usia. I also appreciate the authentic atmosphere of the farm. I was thrilled when I saw the welcoming committee in the form of five really big dogs right after arriving. Although they inspire respect at first glance, they were playful and friendly. And what's more, the owners always had them under control. There are seven of them on the farm. If someone doesn't like dogs or is afraid of them, it could be a problem. But they belong on the farm. We stayed in this nice place for two nights and felt like home. The food and drink were great, everything homemade. I know I will definitely come back to this place and it will feel like I'm visiting old friends.

Ghaub is an exceptional property, situated in its own nature conservatory and on the site of an old mission. There is a lot of history in the property, accompanied by an old graveyard and rock etchings dating back to some of the earlier San inhabitants. Take the opportunity and go for long, relatively easy walks and you will be rewarded with a multitude of wildlife sightings of virtually every kind. Accommodation is in three blocks of farmhouse-style rooms, surrounded by large airy verandas, lovely to enjoy with a long, cold drink. There are also three seemingly well appointed campsites for those wanting to brave a slightly wilder accommodation option. Certainly a property we will return to time and time again.

Bambi Lodge is a recently renovated guest house in Grootfontein, where guests can make the most of its garden and bar.
