You are in the jungle and see all kinds of birds and wildlife, but you still have all of your comforts, like a nice bed, a beautiful relaxing space with a deck and hammock, a clean bathroom and hot shower. Jen cooks amazing dishes and always has the coffee on when you arrive for breakfast. She accommodates your dietary needs and the food includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. You can even watch her machete a fresh coconut for you to drink from, to get an electrolyte boost!

United StatesFabulous stay over the holidays at such a lovely lodge. Quiet and comfortable with clean, private rooms and many communal spaces to enjoy nature and other guests. The food is extraordinary, Dan is a fabulous cook, can’t say enough good things about eating here! Both Dan and Brian went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming, working to arrange transport and activities and providing lots of advice. You can tell they both have put so much into the property and their service. The staff is friendly as well. Highly recommend!

Staying at Carmen’s was an absolute highlight of our trip! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like old friends into her home. The place is beautifully maintained, with comfortable rooms, a lovely dock, and a lush garden perfect for relaxing. The facilities are excellent, but what truly makes this place special is the warmth and hospitality of Carmen and Marcel.
They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed, always with such kindness and care. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and abundant—a perfect way to start the day. And in the evening, Carmen’s home-cooked dinners were a treat—she prepares the freshest fish of the day, and all the guests gather around the table to share a meal and great conversation.
Carmen was incredibly helpful with everything, from tending to a blister on my foot to organizing day trips. This stay was more than just accommodation—it was a truly memorable experience. I can’t recommend it enough!

The food was excellent, and staff was very friendly. Great place for snorkeling, every offered excursion was a unique experience we where able to see sloths, western night monkeys, red dart frogs, 2 baby dolphins along with many adults, reef sharks, jelly fish, sea stars and many fish species along with stingrays snorkeling just out in front of the resort. The insects/bugs where minimum during our visit in September didn't even use our bug spray. This resort could be difficult for those who have an issue with some bugs and wildlife visiting them in there room, however you need to remember this is a nature resort and you are sleeping in a bungalow in the rainforest. With this fact in mind the amount of bugs and such in our room was very minimal and did not bother us at all the rooms where very clean.

I truly loved the Island of Bastimentos of which I stayed.
I truly loved the Island of Bastimentos of which I stayed. I did long walks along the island and I also hiked right through the middle of the island to get to Wizard beach. It's a gem that's unspoiled and untouched by droves of tourist. I hope it stays that way.
However, I have one big issue with this Island called Bastimentos that was heart breaking for me. There was entirely too much garbage strewn along the edges circulating the island. They need a major litter clean up campaign by this community. It was a turn off for such a beautiful Island with beautiful people.
Entirely to much garbage like plastic bottles, cans, glass bottles, old cloths, bags, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I don't know if it's washed up by the sea from neighboring islands or thrown there by the community. It's highly visible and can ruin visitors coming here if they don't clean it up.
I can only hope this matter of pollution is addressed. All the best Bastimentos.
