The breakfast was very nice with some homemade American style biscuits. The location was close to the Grisslehamn ferry terminal and very quiet and peaceful. The room was unique: it had an old cast iron wood burning cookstove in it. The bathroom was very clean and modern.

It's always wonderful to get good service in Sweden (as it can't be taken for granted)! The staff a Hotel Furusund was exceptional! They were super accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as it could possibly be! For that alone, I will give them 5 stars. Beyond that, the hotel is located in one of the most idyllic parts of the Swedish archipelago, it was a famous artist community at the turn of the century. There is lots to see, or you can just relax and take the views from the hotel. Recommend a room with a view! The restaurant goes out of its way to serve inventive dishes that are quite delicious. The breakfast buffet is also one of the best I've had. I will be back! Thank you so much!

Easy access to the free ferry from Vaxholm and the rest of the island. Good walking and cycling in the area and several forts to visit. Pizza restaurant nearby. There was only one other room occupied when we stayed so sharing the bathrooms was not a problem. Good showers. Attractive communal area. Excellent breakfast. Simple, comfortable, semi-communal living with privacy when you want it. Very easy booking and check in. One hour ferry ride from central Stockholm. An interesting and peaceful island.

Pool, large hot tub, and sauna. All the staff we encountered was first rate. We didn’t meet any of the owners or managers, but I’m sure they are fine. The location at the marina was fantastic for watching the boats and the people who live on them. The restaurant was excellent.

I visited at the end of August, so it was the off season, not so many people. Food (lunch/dinner) and beer was great, service also. Beds comfy. Great trails for walks, good sauna and nice spots for a swim and amazing views. This was my first time visiting here so I was pretty excited about everything. Family owned I assume, old cozy maintained building and facilities. Grinda is a beautiful small island.

The experience began right away when the front desk personnel informed us that we were eligible for an upgrade in rooms! We loved sitting out on our veranda to start our day and take in all the beautiful scenery.

The Åtellet Hotell re-opened in April 2009. It is located at the mouth of the Norrtälje River, with the archipelago and sea at walking distance.
