My husbands birthday was during our stay and I arranged for a cake as a surprise. A large ice cream gateau with sparklers was presented with singing and dancing from the staff which was fabulous.

Imagine being cut away from the world, for all the good reasons. Or being stranded on Robinson Crusoe's island, but with the luxury of French cuisine and sublime, thatched roof bungalows. To boot, the weather was just clement enough to award for some great lagoon swimming, along with the pelicans. There's heaps of things to do and see around, but I doubt that you will wish to leave the place for long. Bring your next favorite book along or borrow from the lodge's library. What makes the place extra special is the staff, to begin with the French owners. Thank you, Babakar and Khassim, for some great chats and insights into Senegalese society, Jean Baptiste, Awa and Yvonne for graciously serving the meals and drinks, Marie and Agnes for the local craftsmanship, Ass for deftly steering the pirogue. I'm sure I forgot names here, but there was not one person in the staff for which anything was too much to ask. I will always remember the giant baobab and those soft, enchanted nights. Go alone or bring someone special, if you do. I know I will next time.

The location of the lodge is simply stunning. It sits right on the water, surrounded by nature, and you can see all kinds of beautiful birds throughout the day. The property itself is extremely clean and stylish, with a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that makes it very easy to unwind. The food is delicious, and the breakfast is especially wholesome with plenty of variety. I loved watching the birds come by in the morning as if they were coming to say hello.
The rooms are very comfortable and I slept incredibly well during my stay. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. Even though my French is almost zero, they always made an effort to understand me and made me feel very welcome.
There is honestly nothing bad to say — this place is a little paradise. I truly hope to come back one day. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Very isolated place surrounded by natural ecosystem , quiet and peaceful . Aïssatou the Manager and her staff are so professional and kind . I will definitely recommend Cap Marniane to family and friends .

Great place to relax. Pool is lovely and appeared clean. Food was great staff very helpful and friendly. The tour to bird island was very good and worth doing. Not do easy to get around if you don't have a car.

If you want to explore further afield there are lots of trips and excursions planned for you and are all excellent value for money!
We enjoyed walking with Joseph and learning about the medicinal qualities of the trees and shrubs, and a horse and cart ride to 3 villages on the island. We also enjoyed a boat trip to see the pelicans and herons coming in to roost at the end of the day. We would have liked to have done more if we had stayed longer.

We really enjoyed our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay. Such a beautiful house in a beautiful and calm environment. Having the sea right outside and a beautiful private garden and driveway meant the rental car felt safe and we could relax and eat in privacy with the sea directly in front of us. Within 30 minutes you can drive to the African History Museum in Fimela and the launch point for pirogue tours through the Mangroves. It's also a similar distance to the Island of Shells and Sacred Baobab - the largest in Africa! In order to reach the Southern part of Siné-Saloum it is a bit of a drive, but we didn't feel like we missed anything by not going. There is a building development in the next village which can effect the water supply meaning the shower uses salt-water. If you have sensitive skin I'd advise checking this before booking. Éléanor collected non-salty water which was perfect for us but it's not as practical of course

An amazing place, peaceful, quiet, relaxing, a real oasis.
An amazing place, peaceful, quiet, relaxing, a real oasis. Very clean, great kitchen, you can do trips from the place or just lie in a hammock, go for a swim, watch the crabs, read a book, observe the sunrise (which is truly amazing at this place). No noise, just the sea, wind and birds.
