GREAT PLACE TO STAY in BISHOP! The Wayfinder Bishop was a mountain lodge type stay that was comfy, with lux details, great food/bar, a calming and scenic creek flowing adjacent the property, creek-side seating, pool, sauna and hot tub. I stayed with my family and they were impressed! This is a great place to stop coming from BOISE going to LA area, or going to Yosemite, etc. It gave us the rest we needed to continue a long drive. But, could have easily stayed longer to explore the area. Hope to come back!

We loved the raw beauty of the mountains, lakes and geologic features in the area. We didn't bring or rent bikes, but will the next time. An e-bike would be great for riding up to the Mammoth Lakes and touring the whole area. We will be back again, possibly during ski season as well.

Great place to stay along 395 as it is the largest town in the area and has the most choices for lodging and dining. The bristlecone pine forest is nearby and definitely worth the drive up to the grove.

The museum of Western film history and surrounding Alabama...

The museum of Western film history and surrounding Alabama Hills are fantastic - you can just imagine the Hollywood scenes being filmed. We drove up Mt. Whitney for a short hike; our Dow Villa motel had the best pool and lovely rooms, historical photos in the lobby. We ate across the street at the Alabama Hills café and liked that, too. Our L. A. cousins had driven past the museum enroute to Mammoth hundreds of times and have said they will definitely stop there on their next trip.

Lee Vining is a cool small town with a vintage vibe. It has a couple of great casual restaurants, shops with local Yosemite / Eastern Sierra themed merchandise, fishing/hiking gear and a gas station. It is the ultimate gateway stay for a trip into Yosemite National Park.

We give Virginia settlement a five star rating it was clean, An amazing, beautiful location and had all the amenities you could ask for! Perfect location to explore around Yosemite Bridgeport, mono, and all the other surrounding areas. We stayed in the handmaiden cabin and it was perfect for our family!!! The kitchen and the restaurant was really good as well. My daughters favorite part was the rainbow trout that you feed that they raise on the property. It was a pretty cool experience. Thank you so much. We will be back soon.

June Lake features some of the best fishing on the planet!

June Lake features some of the best fishing on the planet! From Lake fishing to creek and river fishing, there are a lot of choices. Additionally, the hiking is amazing, with entrances to the JMT and PCT with access to some amazing alpine lakes and sights. Don't expect Aspen Colorado! June is quaint and laid back - perfect for a "slow it down" break from life's crazy speed.

Great coffee shop in town, I think it was called Brewed Awakening, excellent coffee, food, and atmosphere. I had the fruity waffles which were super yummy! Big Pine is a great launching pad for the Ancient Bristlecone Pine forest, 4,000 year old trees just off the first exit off of 395 north!

It was in a great location for us, the views were beautiful, the access was great - straight off the highway, the 'wigwam we stayed in was very comfortable, the people were very friendly and helpful. We had great food at the café, the pool was lovely (although we wish it opened a little earlier in the morning). However we do have to mention the toilets. The ones we used were rough and ready but were mostly ok. However, of the 4, one was out of order and one was blocked and had no running water at the hand wash basin. We picked one that was clean and did work though .

Booked to stay in Independence as we wanted to visit Manzanar on our way south. But we wished we had gone further south to Lone Pine and then doubled back north in the morning as there was much more choice of accommodation in Lone Pine. Manzanar is worth visiting as is the Film Museum in Lone Pine.

We stayed at this hotel before when Sam the previous owner was there. Now it’s under new ownership. It’s was not the same. We booked two rooms. One of them didn’t have hot water. The ac didn’t work well since they use swamp coolers. The owner has been there for only a few months and I think he is overwhelmed. As far as the room himself, it needs new curtains the ones that we had wooden close right they were pretty old ann Cow webs all over the ceilings. It wasn’t very clean.
