Very friendly and polite staff, great amenities, great complimentary activities (while we were there, there was a wine degustation event with a piano concert, a movie night on the rooftop terrace, a yoga class and many more) and overall an excellent location. The room we stayed in was well organized, very clean and yes, the Japanese toilet was a highlight as well :)

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff of the Hyatt House in Honolulu, Hawaii. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth, professionalism, and outstanding hospitality. Every member of the team made my stay comfortable and enjoyable. I would especially like to thank the front desk staff—Jarissa, Novy, Bev, Taylor, Ian, and Michelle—as well as Aspyn from Housekeeping. Their kindness, courtesy, and dedication to excellent service made my visit truly memorable.

This hotel exceeded our expectations! The price is super low, the rooms are spacious, the staff above and beyond friendly, everything was great. I highly recommend this place if you are traveling with kids or a group, or have an extended stay. Our room had a full kitchen with cookware, even a rice cooker! Full size fridge, all of the amenities one could want. The dining area was large, and the view from the balcony was amazing! The pool floor is very fun, with a clean pool and two jacuzzis, even a playground area for little kids and lots of bbq grills to use. This is a no-frills place that still keeps a nice level of comfort. I now highly recommend staying here, and we will be back! 😊

The staff was friendly, helpful, and courteous. The housekeeping staff was like a hive of bees. They kept our room in tip-top shape, even when I tried to give them a break and told them that they could skip us for a day. Also, they kept us plied with coffee, which was a delight for me. The restaurant, the Maui Brewing Company, was superb. There was an entrance directly from the hotel, and they supplied us with a discount card to sweeten the choice. The location is in the heart of Waikiki. It would be impossible not to love the positioning, as one is right in the heart of the city.

LOCATION: Excellent location. Central to everything. Right in front of Kuhio Beach and surrounded by restaurants, bars and stores on both the Waikiki strip and Kuhio Ave behind it. STAFF: Very friendly, kind and helpful. They remember your name and always greet you. VIBE: Although the room was very dated, for some strange reason, it felt "homey" and welcoming. Perhaps it was the partial ocean view and lots of light streaming in.

I didn't care for the check-in process.

I didn't care for the check-in process. The Front Desk Clerk was wonderful--friendly and helpful. However, apparently there was a duplicate booking for 2 additional rooms under Expedia. I had no communication with Expedia WHATSOEVER, yet the Front Desk Manager made me feel that I was at fault because the Expedia reservation arrived 1 day prior to Booking.com's reservation. After researching the problem online, I realized that Coconut Waikiki's Channel Manager software did not block Expedia's reservation offer making it seem like I'd booked 2 additional rooms through Expedia which I did not. In addition, I checked my Expedia account for Coconut Waikiki's Expedia confirmation number and found none whatsoever. A pretty upsetting experience.

My wife and I sought a location where we could assemble our children, their spouses, and our grandchildren. This is the perfect family location and away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. The hosts are extremely accommodating. The facilities worked perfect for 6 adults and four grandchildren. Grandchildren favorites: Snorkeling Turtle Bay (15 minute drive); watching the chickens in the backyard; and boogie boarding (provided by hosts) in Laie. Children/Spouses favorite part: not sharing a room with their children. My wife and I loved having all together without breaking the bank account. PCC is a fun activity to do early in the trip. The ticket allows for repeat visits up to three days. Food truck options about 10 minutes from the property are a fun treat with many, many options. Hike Waimea Falls and bring your swimsuit. Sunday arrival tip: Grab groceries in Honolulu before venturing to Laie. The local grocery store is closed on Sundays.

Our family of six had an absolutely outstanding stay at this beautiful Mauna Olu gated community home from June 26 through July 3, 2026. The home was exceptionally clean, spacious, beautifully maintained, and equipped with every amenity we needed for an unforgettable Oahu vacation. It truly felt like a home away from home. What made our experience truly exceptional was our host. He responded to every question promptly, usually within just a few hours, and provided an outstanding guide to Oahu that included recommendations for beaches, restaurants, shopping, and local attractions. His local knowledge helped us make the most of every day on the island. As a retired U.S. Army veteran, I also appreciated the convenient access to the nearby Navy Exchange, Commissary, and Class Six store, which helped reduce grocery and household shopping costs during our stay. One of my favorite memories was relaxing in the home's incredible backyard. I spent hours enjoying the peaceful surroundings, admiring the Pacific Ocean in the distance and the beautiful volcanic ridges that frame the neighborhood. It was the perfect place to begin and end each day. Our stay exceeded every expectation. The combination of an exceptional host, a wonderful home, and a peaceful location made this one of the best vacations our family has ever enjoyed. I wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone planning a trip to Oahu. You won't be disappointed. Mahalo for sharing your amazing home with us—we look forward to returning!

This is THE town to be in if you're looking to stay on North Shore. The town itself is adorable, all mom & pop establishments from the local retail stores to the restaurants, with the exception of 1 mcdonalds and 1 starbucks way out at the edge of town. So it feels very local and special, also has a slight hippie & surfer vibe. There is a great tidepooling/snorkeling area (next to Three Tables) almost next door to the apartment where I stayed, and slightly farther (still walkable) is the most popular big beautiful sandy beach Waimea Bay (famous for the giant waves in the winter; a regular beautiful cove in the summer). Do google the Silos with some great local businesses (coffee, yoga, pottery, tattoos, etc.) where the old sugar cane factory used to be. Do try all the food trucks! Do look for the mexican restaurant near The Silos. Do look for the family run sandwich/smoothie shop Waialua Bakery & Juice Bar that brings all their ingredients from their local farm! The north shore has a 180 degree different vibe from Honolulu/Waikiki, which is all high-rise condos and traffic and high end but generic shopping you can get anywhere (feels like Vegas). I did not like Honolulu at all, but I LOVED Haleiwa.

Location was exactly what we were looking for away from the chaos of Honolulu. Paradise Bay Resort is a great place to stay, Whiskey Smoke 808 Bar-b-Q is a good value, and Haleiwa Joe's Haiku Gardens is good but pricey. Enough stores and other options to have snacks for the room. Enough beach choices and other activities within a short drive.

There is a great Foodland about 10–15 minutes north along Kamehameha Highway. We cooked all of our meals at the house until the last day, so we don’t have restaurant recommendations for the immediate area. There are, however, several excellent local coffee shops within a 5-minute drive (we can’t recall the names, but they’re easy to find). We enjoyed visiting Waimea Bay on the North Shore, about a 45-minute drive north. While we didn’t stop this time, there are also a number of fun food trucks in the area that are worth exploring. Just across the highway is Waimea Valley, home to Waimea Falls. You can even swim at the waterfall; life jackets and water shoes are required.

My family are from Honolulu.

My family are from Honolulu. There has been many changes with the city including but not limited to the homeless situation, unfinished construction of projects, and general crowding and traffic concerns. The access to the Diamond Head trail seems reasonable-online reservation with a small charge for parking and entrance to the park. The Hanauma Bay had similar reservations, but I did not have time for this trip.
