I have been to the Outer Banks 6 or 7 times, never disappoints. Have to be mindful of the weather. May get chased out by a storm. Lots of family things to do. Love the shops. Food is great. Just as fun to just sit on the beach! Be sure to see the Wright Brothers memorial !

I enjoyed the indoor hot tub . The breakfast had a lot of options other than just cereal. Staff was nice and friendly . My friends and I enjoyed eating at Jack Brown's Beer & Burger joint and also Hurricane Mo's Beachside Bar & Grill. We also visited the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island while waiting for our room to become available.

I have stayed here 3 times and I plan to stay here again. The fact that this hotel was within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, shops, and the beautiful waterfront- all that makes this an ideal location for me.

There are many things to do and so many wonderful excursions like going to the lighthouses which are just a short trip to visiting the Wright brothers, or taking a kayak or hangliding adventure then experience the wild horses. Just a short drive are gardens, historical landmarks, and nature preserves like alligator river to watching black bear then just travel through duck to experience the wild horse tours. Then finish the day with a sunset 2 hour cruise or visit an array of restaurants, pubs or local sport bars near or on the beach front. There is something for everyone.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Blackbeard’s Lodge. We booked two separate rooms through Booking.com for our family and brought two pets. We understood and expected the pet fee, and that charge was not an issue. What was disappointing was discovering an unexpected additional charge on my debit card after our stay. I had to call the hotel to find out what it was. I was told the hotel charged my card an additional amount related to one of the room rates. No one informed me of this before the charge was processed. My biggest concern is that when I book through Booking.com, I expect the price I’m quoted to be the price I pay, aside from any clearly disclosed fees such as pet fees or taxes. It’s frustrating to return from vacation and find an unexpected charge on your card without any explanation beforehand. I also looked at the room rates on the hotel’s website afterward, and they appeared to be very similar to the Booking.com rates, so I’m still not sure why there was an additional charge. Overall, our stay was pleasant, but I believe guests should be notified and given a clear explanation before any extra charges are made to their card.

BUXTON WAS SUCH A NICE AREA TO VISIT. WE WILL RETURN AND GO TO THE SAME MOTEL. BUXTON HAS SOME NICE PLACES TO EAT AND HAS A SMALL TOWN ATMOSPHERE. THE LIGHTHOUSE AND BEACHES ARE THE BEST. RIGHT NOW THEY ARE RESTOREING THE LIGHTHOUSE SO YOU CAN'T CLIMB IN BUT YOU CAN STILL VISIT THE GROUNDS AND SEE ALL THE HISTORY STUFF. GO OUT AT NIGHT AND WATCH THE LITTLE CRABS RUN. IT'S SO FUN.

Duck is really lovely little town with the most amazing board walk with cute little cafes (great for watching the sunset) and shops. Loved the easy access to the beach and the sound on the sound on the other side offering contrast to the feel of the place. Lovely places to walk and felt safe and quiet while we were there although imagine can get very busy in high season.

Avon is a fun, family friendly town. There is something for everyone there. Although I am old, I really got a kick out of the ice cream truck that came by the house with music, and even bubbles. The ice cream was delicious too.

Dirty room full of mosquitoes pictures will show disgusting room staff rude not helpful smelled horrible paid for a deck entrance couldn’t use screens covered with mosquito slept on top of lumpy bed left early would have left earlier but drove 18 hours straight and they didn’t honor early check in so we waited 3 hours.

The Outer Banks will forever be one of our favorite places in the world. Beautiful beaches, shores of seashells, and plenty of adventure! There's enough convenience with local stores and restaurants that it's an easy vacation. Some of our favorite food spots: Darrels in Manteo (for breakfast), Pizazz Pizza, Slice Pizzeria, Kill Devils Frozen Custard, and Mama Kwans. The OBX is our home away from home!
