"It was my first trip to the area. It's a small and older hotel that was clean, comfortable and charming. Loved the cozy lobby with fireplace...gave it a B&B feel. Room was clean with comfortable bed. TV was basic...could not stream, but for me that was not an issue. Proximity to the beach was great...just a short walk out over dunes. Also, close to some great restaurants like Rundown Cafe, Thai Room (walking distance). Will definitely return!"

"🌞Nags Head is excellent!❤️🐬🐬🐬Great service. Friendly people. Lighthouses were fantastic! OBX is very easy to navigate & beautiful! Great food everywhere! Experienced everything south, from Hatteras to an awesome Corolla beach drive(looking for the wild mustangs)!👍🏻 *lesson learned the hard way…must have 4wd to drive on the beach. Make sure to lower all tire pressures to 18 pounds & stay in the packed sand. Corolla City Park is little over a mile away to refill your tires. HAVE FUN!!!"

"We loved being there for the opening of this year's The Lost Colony at the Waterside Theater. It was a delightful surprise to find that it was also the weekend of Dare Days, and we enjoyed walking through the artists' booths and galleries, listening to the live music, and the presentation by the member of the Aquarium staff who had a display about sharks in children's area. We ran into and enjoyed catching up with some old and new friends. We had a huge and delicious supper at Shaddai, went to see Casablanca at the Pioneer Theater (the oldest independently owned theater in the country and newly renovated), and ended the day singing along with a great couple of performers in the bar in front of Poor Richard's sandwich shop, where we also made some more new friends. Fran's Front Porch helped us start each day of our visit with nourishing pastries, coffee, and hot tea."

The cottage was amazing - plenty of room for 4 people, with 2 bathrooms and a spacious living room / kitchen area. Although we didn’t meet the hosts personally, they kindly provided us with lots of information about the area and a goody bag. We loved the fact that the cottage was 2 minutes walk from a private beach!! Definitely will be coming back in the future.

I felt like the listing for this stay was described really well, we got what we signed up for, in the best way! The apartment was very clean, the staff was friendly, available, and helpful. As a bonus, the property had extra amenities we weren't expecting, like free family movie nights in their theater room, 3 pools (1 indoor and 2 outside), hot tub, mini golf, tennis, etc. Great place to stay with family

There was a complimentary breakfast, although the booking reservation system said that there are no breakfast option in the plan. The location was perfect with easy access to the beach and anywhere around OBX. There were also free access to the closest gym with an indoor pool which we used often since some days were too rainy and/or cold to go out to the beach. My son was able to enjoy it!

The house is located right next to a golf course and one of the cars of the persons with me got hit by a golf ball and has a large dent in the car. We called the golf course and they couldn't do anything about it. You need to drive and find a parking spot by the beach or you have to walk across 2 highways to get to the beach.

BUXTON WAS SUCH A NICE AREA TO VISIT. WE WILL RETURN AND GO TO THE SAME MOTEL. BUXTON HAS SOME NICE PLACES TO EAT AND HAS A SMALL TOWN ATMOSPHERE. THE LIGHTHOUSE AND BEACHES ARE THE BEST. RIGHT NOW THEY ARE RESTOREING THE LIGHTHOUSE SO YOU CAN'T CLIMB IN BUT YOU CAN STILL VISIT THE GROUNDS AND SEE ALL THE HISTORY STUFF. GO OUT AT NIGHT AND WATCH THE LITTLE CRABS RUN. IT'S SO FUN.

Duck NC is a cute beachside community.

Duck NC is a cute beachside community. With many shops, restaurants and photo opportunities, it was great to explore. Personally, we most enjoyed the nearly 1 mile long boardwalk along the Sound's eastern shore, along the west side of the Duck, Outer Bank area. Wildlife abounds, blue skies and coastal marsh, grasses and cypress trees offer great photo opportunities. Lighthouses, wild horses, to the north, Kitty Hawk and the Wright Brothers Memorial are just a few miles south, and the entire Outer Banks strip, more lighthouses, sand dunes, wind surfing, fishing and wildlife southward to Hatteras... and the ferries from Hatteras Island to Ocrakoke Island are well within a day's drive south. From Nags Head, head west on the 64 bridge and visit Roanoke Island and the hamlet of Manteo for some serious history lessons about explorations and occupation in the 16th century, and a good seafood meal! this was our first trip onto the NC Outer Banks. Granted it's remote when compared to many other American Seaside areas, but well worth the drive and time.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Blackbeard’s Lodge.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Blackbeard’s Lodge. We booked two separate rooms through Booking.com for our family and brought two pets. We understood and expected the pet fee, and that charge was not an issue. What was disappointing was discovering an unexpected additional charge on my debit card after our stay. I had to call the hotel to find out what it was. I was told the hotel charged my card an additional amount related to one of the room rates. No one informed me of this before the charge was processed. My biggest concern is that when I book through Booking.com, I expect the price I’m quoted to be the price I pay, aside from any clearly disclosed fees such as pet fees or taxes. It’s frustrating to return from vacation and find an unexpected charge on your card without any explanation beforehand. I also looked at the room rates on the hotel’s website afterward, and they appeared to be very similar to the Booking.com rates, so I’m still not sure why there was an additional charge. Overall, our stay was pleasant, but I believe guests should be notified and given a clear explanation before any extra charges are made to their card.

We loved being in the countryside and being on the ocean at the same time. We took long walks. The weather was spectacular and we love the dining and the restaurants that were available. It was easy to get around and we visited a restaurant called Henry's that was really great and well known for their crap bisque. The breweries and views were spectacular.
