It’s a cute little boutique property in an excellent, quiet location in Colonia within walking distance of 90 % of the historical and cultural sights. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful. Nice quiet location that allows you to walk into the town and through the park at the side of the river. Secure parking. Swimming pool. Very comfortable bed and a nice breakfast. Dinner in the open plan restaurant with a reception area and an open fire. Bonus of a family of Toros (national bird of Uruguay) poking around the lawn in the morning for a bit of bird watching after breakfast!

I loved the garden with chairs under the big tree, chill-out and the swimming pool. Alltogether, it creates a family stay feeling, in the middle of the historical area. Very good breakfast, with fresh fruits, pastries, etc. There are also toys for small kids, available to borrow.

I loved this hotel!! The staff, the cleanliness, the decor and the way it has many room types from single through to a large family unit all located around an atrium with plants. My very affordable single room and its ensuite were sparkling clean. There was AC and a small TV and a window with a view to plants. The caring and welcoming staff let me store my bag both before and after check out. I don’t understand why it is listed with only 2 stars: it certainly deserves more.

We were only here a few days , we went to the beach which is in a very peaceful area , you have so much space and surrounded by trees so you can have shade, the uraguay river if a brown colour but is clean and you can swim . We cycled around the area and went to the sculpture gardens which was run by a local artist, it was fun to see and the artist told us how he makes the sculptures, children would like to see the animal sculptures here . We had a wine tasting at El Legardo which was great 😊

ARGENTINES GO TO COLONIA TO RELAX AND SLOW DOWN..

ARGENTINES GO TO COLONIA TO RELAX AND SLOW DOWN.. We used to go by sailboat.. The hotel is enclaved almost on the river from where you can throw yourself into it---- it is breathtaking. staying in a room with a balcony overlooking the river day or night, and the moon on the river..you dont need to move. I experienced all the climates in 3 days...I only had breakfast.. you can have dinner walking 2.3 blocks into the old town or into town..lots of old style inns bistros..or barbecue on the coastal walk--- if u need excercise just take a RT 2 hours walk along the coast upto the old plaza de toros..pity they didnt leave it as an old ruin instead of renweing it old arabian style.. you leave ruins as ruins to experience something from the past. Enjoy Colonia..slow pace living.groceries are open until 2200hours.. shops probably as well or maybe later

This is a low-key town without any visible tourist infrastructure. We came to relax at a vineyard and enjoy the Uruquay countryside. It was great for 2-3 nights, time to explore the different wineries, take a cycle and visit the small local beach at sunset.

An absolute gem! A Colonial town steeped in history, the architecture, lighthouse and streets feels like stepping back in time. However every modern convenience is there too. Amazing restaurants and shops too. Would recommend Charco for dinner
