Hotels That Guests Love in Palermo
  • Politeama Luxury Suites is a welcoming, comfortable guest house located very conveniently for the touristic points. The staff (Luigi) is fantastic: friendly and helpful at all times. The room was lovely - well-heated, very good size, bathroom with power shower, comfortable bed and sure, I will recomend it.

  • Lovely room, with a touch of romance.

  • Lovely spacious apartment with 2 bathrooms and there is a lift. Very central with the market just a short walk, as is the information centre and free tourist bus. It was lovely to find a bottle of wine waiting for us, together with a packet of pasta and a jar of sauce!

  • The best host! The location is perfekt .. the apartment is lovely and has all the amenities for a perfect stay!

  • Very large comfortable room with great well equipped bathroom in a fabulously restored house in the La Kasla area. Lovely breakfast. Relaxing atmosphere. Fantastic staff, just wish I could speak Italian to converse better with everyone. Totally recommend.

Orto Botanico di Palermo
Big on biodiversity? This botanic garden isn’t just a peaceful oasis in the middle of a bustling city. It’s a living lesson in Mediterranean flora and fauna. Over twelve thousand species of seeds, flowers, and fungus grow in these leafy lanes and musty greenhouses. Among the menu of vegetation, you’ll even find a gene bank that preserves rare species for the future of science.

How well restored were the castles in Palermo?

Unfortunatelly, most castles were partialy open to visitors due to restauration (still you have to pay the full price), the Archeological museum was closed, but you can visit the city council's premises (municipio) for free. In Siracusa the main museum was also closed for restauration. The must see place to explore Sicilian rich history is Agrigento (Vale dei templi). If you have a chance, take a guide (5 of us paid 10 euros each for a 2-hour walk)- it was worth it!
