Boasting hot spring baths in a spectacular outdoor setting by Takaragawa River, Japanese-style hotel Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is a 10-minute drive from Hodaigi Ski Resort. If I could give ten stars I would! Our stay was amazing! Everything from staff to location to food was great! You can’t beat the location within mountains next to a beautiful river! Onsen facilities were gorgeous! Staff all spoke English perfectly and were extremely thoughtful and kind! They even called me on our way there to make sure we can make it to the dinner!

Hanaingen is an adult only accommodation situated in Kusatsu, just a 2-minute walk from Yubatake, or the hot water field in Kusatsu Onsen. All the staff are polite, helpful and always with a smile. Breakfast was tasty and like an art. Room was comfortable and clean. The 24-hour self service coffee and juice bar was a great bonus. Just wanted to say all good reviews by previous travelers are 100% accurate.

Just a 3-minute walk from the famous Yubatake Hot Spring, Kane Midori offers massage services and its own hot-spring baths. The Japanese rooms have futon beds and a Western bathroom. The inn has a lot of charm. The onsen was really cosy, not too crowded (in January), and beautiful. The staff was warm and welcoming, and this feeling applies to the inn itself. I really loved the whole experience at Ryokan Tamura. I felt very relaxed and pampered since dinner and breakfast was served, and we loved using the onsen. We asked for vegan food, and they informed us that the broth may contain dashi, but for us that was ok. The food was delicious and we got to try some of the traditional Japanese cuisine consisting of mainly vegetables. There were men only and women only onsens, and two private onsens. The water was super warm and relaxing. The staff was also very welcoming and nice and spoke english.

Very kind staff, buffet was delicious and great value, 5 min walk to the main onsen downtown area, Japanese style room was spacious and quiet, onsen was great too.
