Waqoo Shitaderamachi is situated in Tennoji, in Osaka. The accommodation is 500 metres from popular areas such as Tsutenkaku and Shinsekai. Location is excellent, in a nice and evolving part of the city. Breakfast was unique, very interesting and diverse, according to Buddhist practices. Rooms are very comfortable, and the staff is extremely polite. It was definitely and authentic experience.

Open from September 2017, The Celestine Kyoto Gion is set in Kyoto, a 10-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station. Guests can walk to Kiyomizu-dera Temple in 15 minutes from the property. Extremely well located, very clean and well maintained.

Newly opened in August 2016, Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Ekimae offers accommodations with free WiFi. The hotel is directly connected to JR Kyoto Station and a 4-minute walk away. It’s better than a 5 star. Great bed, great amenities, great staff, always helpful. The bedrooms are new and they have everything you need and more. Good breakfast and great location. Better than inside de station because when you stay there you tend to get dinner inside the station. This one is 1 block away and full of options. Great laundry, lot of machines.

Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. I’m not sure if I can sum up the experience in a few words but here we go: if you are looking to live an authentic experience at Koyasan, Saizenin is without a doubt the best place to do so. For starters, the monks and staff were so friendly and helpful, explaining each step or indication carefully. The person at the front desk spoke amazing English and even German! The rooms are so comfortable and big for Japan size of course. Ours overlooked a small garden and the entrance. One of the things I loved the most was the location, right in front of the temple complex. The food was delicious and had us saying “wow” with each bite. Also, don’t pass on the opportunity to bathe in the classic onsen, so clean and so worth it! I would come back a million times and I would recommend it to everyone I know.

Opening in March 2014, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei offers accommodations with a modern yet traditional décor. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and assisted us with phone call to home country plus helped with transportation advice and restaurants. On-site onset was welcome relief after walking all day.
