Tasting sake or local wine, snacks or ice cream is available in the lounge.

Beautifully designed, stylish and meticulously kept apartment with sitting area, kitchenette and bathroom. Spacious sleeping area with comfortable futon beds. Great location in a quiet residential area, walking distance to the river, shopping, Kenroku-en gardens and areas of interest. Bus nearby as well. The delicious and generous breakfast was served in a cafe 2 minutes walk away. Very responsive and kind English speaking host who helped with tourist information, excellent restaurant recommendations, and booking a taxi. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay 2 night stay in the private Onsen suite. The kaiseki dinner and breakfasts were delicious and filling without making you uncomfortably full. The private Onsen and bath were fantastic and overlooked the gorge. It was so peaceful and so nice to get up in the morning and just sink in and soak while waiting for breakfast. The staff were amazingly friendly though be aware that English can be a bit difficult. It is Japan though so this isn’t a negative. The location was great, out of the way but a very easy, leas than 5 minute walk to the main town street and entrance to the gorge. 10 minutes walking you can get to the cozy and beautiful gorge cafe, we read books, ate cake, and drank tea there. Was fantastic for a relaxing visit.

Located a 5-minute drive from JR Kanazawa Station, Ryokan Yamamuro offers Japanese-style guestrooms with free WiFi. Omicho Market and Kanazawa Castle Park can both be reached with a 5-minute walk. The room was nice and traditional. A hot bath is available and can be used by couples. The host Bungo helped us book bus tickets for Shirakawago (if you want to go, book in advance) and helped call a taxi for when we left. The building and garden suffered some minor damages from the January 1st earthquake, we hope repairs go well.
