Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. It is beautiful. Close to the temple, such a lovely area. The traditional feel was so neat, and it snowed! What a treat. The Onsen was lovely. Our beds were futon, which were fine for us. If you are going to the snow monkeys - check the weather and wear appropriate clothing. Boots in the winter, hiking style clothes are needed. Unless you are used to hiking, I wouldn’t take young children in the winter.

The food was exceptional, the place was so authentic, but like in a quiet without trying kind of way they were not being like that for us they were like that so it was true and that was super appreciated. The place and the people and service outstanding. 2 of us are vegetarians and 2 eat everything and they made us a special menu.

Our stay with Maki, her Mother and Kenta dog was relaxing and magical after a week in Tokyo and Maki does absolutley everything to make you feel welcome and at home with her gentle, warm hospitality, The Ryokan itself is an elegant traditional building and is beautifully kept. The amazing Kaiseki dinner and breakfasts that Makis mother presents every night are a wonderful way to experience traditional japanese food after a relaxing onsen bath. Maki was simply the best host, she even drove us up to the start of our walk trail and booked our lunchtime soba restaurant. The local area is breathtaking even in late autumn / early winter and a walk around the shrines is enough to fill a very pleasant day, Wel ove you Maki and we will be back!

We had an exceptional experience Futari Shizuka. The staff were very friendly and we had lovely Japanese ladies who personally showed us to our rooms and made tea for us, and offered local Japanese snacks. We had a lovely chat, albeit limited English from them. Dinner and breakfast were served in a private room, food and service were awesome! We had a birthday celebration and they prepared a lovely cake for us. We had such a wonderful stay that we are still reminiscing weeks after our trip.

Located in the heart of Nozawa Onsen, Tanuki offers guests a traditional accommodation with Japanese-style rooms that feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring. Great staff, comfortable .. amazing food! Could not fault it at all!

Objekat Ryokan Warabino se nalazi u gradu Takayama, na 12 km od znamenitosti Zoološki vrt Suzaka i 24 km od znamenitosti Hram Zenkoji. Ovaj riokan sa 3 zvezdice nudi besplatan WiFi i vrt. Firstly we were greeted warmly as we came to check in. Everything was explained clearly and we get to choose the yukata with our size. The rooms are tatami style with a super comfortable futon. The food was a set of Japanese dishes that is really good and the onsen was awesome. Overall we love the authentic japanese ryokan experience.
