Self Catering Accommodation in Struppen

It's a fantastic place with wonderful nature around. What I'd like to emphasize is that this accomodation is really close both to ferry across Elbe and railway station. And as a guest, you are given Gästekarte Sächsische Schweiz, which allows you to use both ferry and local train for free, and this is absolutely great.

Modern, clean, unique. Had everything you would need and more.

The location is wonderful, probably unique, high on the valley side, in quiet forest. Many of the guests will be coming and going daily walking the Malerweg, but access to this amazing location is also possible by forest track and car. There’s the possibility of a wonderful breakfast overlooking the beautiful Saxon Switzerland landscape, before a day walking the trails. Very nice evening meals available upto 18.30, but there’s also very good inns and restaurants in the surrounding villages if you are out later. There is also a free pass that allows you to use local trains, buses and ferry’s to explore the area, which is a great idea and cuts down on people driving. We had a great time walking sections of the Malerweg using the passes to get to starting points and walking back to a lovely meal as the sunset and a comfortable bed with nothing but the sound of the wind in the trees to lull you to sleep!

It is a great place to stay and explore Saxon Switzerland region and Dresden. You will stay by the gate of the medieval castle and with fresh baked pastries in the morning.

This is not so much a pension as a self-catering apartment on a considerable scale. Largely open-plan, it has a walled off king-size-bed, a dining area and kitchen/living room along with a generous walk-in shower room. The fridge was supplied with a bottle of fizzy mineral water, a small bottle of fizzy white wine and a bottle of beer, gratis. Everything was clean, quite new and easy to use. The wi-fi was efficient. Walking from Stat Wehlen station involves a very steep, but picturesque climb up 250 steps and stiff slopes to get to the top of the Elbe valley; once up it is a pleasant couple of miles through a small town and rolling countryside.

I liked how the house was very spatious, how the hosts accommodated my needs as well as the location, where there's only a 20 min walk to go hiking.

Friendly warm hosts. The kitchen was very well equipped. The apartment is very spacious and feels homey. Lots of informative flyers about the area are provided.

Lovely friendly staff, right on the river with great beer garden attached which served delicious food.

Our stay was really magnificent. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, very well equipped and nicely cool even in hot summer days. There are wonderful, unspoiled views of the Elbe River and the other part of the beautiful, quiet town of Wehlen (Stadt Wehlen) from the terasse. You have just a few minutes walk to the train station and down to the ferry (constantly operating). There is a restaurant nearby and more of them at the other bank of the river (Marktstübchen being our top favourite). When you fill the accommodation form you get the guest card, which allows free use of almost all means of public transport (trains, busses, ferries) within the Saxon Switzerland area, and also gives some discounts. The apartment is in an excellent location, halfway between Dresden and the Bastei Nature Reserve. The landlord is very welcoming. The house is comfortable and beautifully designed.

The surrounding nature was exceptionally beautiful and great for hikes. Marle was kind enough pick us up with the car from the Station. We had no car so we walked to most places. The closest supermarket is a 45 min walk from the location. Dont bring a suitcase if you dont have a car, since the way to the Apartment is through a hilly forest or hilly road. 30-40 min by foot to the Train Station.

Pillows could be soften, but it really depends on personal preferences.
