We didn’t include breakfast in our stay as it was for 6 nights but did buy tickets for one morning and it was delicious for a reasonable price

Moreover, the owner offered Nintendo Switch with various games. The best thing the owner gave me was two cans of Dr. Pepper for my birthday present. That was a good treat from him!

We absolutely love the atmosphere of this place. The old wood panel walls and the giant logs that make up the frame in the lobby, have a rustic charm that leaves us relaxed and feeling like we’re somewhere overseas. I’m not a huge fan of jazz, but I love the sound of it in the lobby coming through through the old warm speakers near the fireplace. The food is another plus about this place. I’m not a huge fan of super fancy and pretentious food. What they serve here is good and substantial so you’re not left craving something else in 20 minutes. for dinner we actually got lunch items. We probably could have gotten away with ordering two lunch entrées for the three of us because they’re that filling. The buffet breakfast was fantastic. Unlike the buffet at a business hotel where you’re looking for something that’s the least unappealing to eat, for this buffet there were so many things that looked so good that it was a challenge not to overheat actually we skip lunch this afternoon because we ate so much at breakfast today.

Located within a 10-minute walking distance from the Zao Sky Cable aerial lift, Miyamaso Takamiya features 9 natural hot spring baths for guests to enjoy. Very nice, old style but classic hotel. Staff very supportive and food was very good

Objekat Yamagata Zao Pension Apron Stage je smešten u gradu Kaminoyama, na 2,3 km od znamenitosti Ski rizort Zao Hotsprings, a u ponudi ima antialergenske smeštajne jedinice, vrt, besplatan WiFi i... This is a great pension run by a lovely family. The husband picked us up at the bus station and drove us to the pension and also took us to the slopes in the morning. They gave us a coupon for renting gear and a map explaining the different onsen options around town. Their English is pretty limited, but they are happy to use Google translate. Also, it was not a big deal, but I think it is important for foreign guests to be aware that ski culture in Japan sort of assumes you are eating dinner at your accommodation. We did not know this and did not book dinner at the hotel. Most restaurants in town were fully booked with reservations (although there is a convenience store with good takeaway food), so try to book dinner at the hotel or make a dinner reservation somewhere well in advance. We were very luck and managed to make a reservation at the Mongolian lamb place Kasheru for the second night and that was amazing. But we saw restaurants turning people away repeatedly because everywhere in town was full. Also, the family will not pick you up by car any later that 6:45 pm (perfectly reasonable) and the public ski shuttles don't run on weekdays, so you need to pre-book a taxi if dinner will end later than that (which it probably will since most restaurants open at 6 pm). And there are not a lot of taxis and no Uber. I wish I had realized all of this up front, but that was our own ignorance and our stay was great regardless. Again, this is just the local ski culture and not the hotel's fault. It's just helpful information for future guests.

The house is a traditional, cute, cosy Japanese home, we had a lovely time staying for 3 days and I’m amazed with how thoroughly the owner had prepared the property before we arrive. There was diffuser at the entrance, which made the house smells so lovely. Nice branded shampoo and shower gel, Dyson hair dryer and a vacuum cleaner ( definitely highlight of the place) very comfortable bed sets and pillows. Oh, we loved the blanket/ table set, it was such a clever invention to have a giant electric blanket in the living room under the table to keep us warm while watching a movie over the projector. Overall it was absolutely amazing for anyone who wants to experience traditional Japanese living style.
