Wow wow wow,this hotel is absolutely beautiful in every way. The whole place shines and gleams, my cave room was so special and it is in the perfect location within the Sassi-as a solo female traveller I was able to walk easily from my doorstep to all the tourist attractions. The service is excellent-room seemed to be turned down 3 times a day. Spa was gorgeous, as were my treatments. Matera is the most beautiful place to stay and explore,a real hidden gem.

The experience was great. The hype is real for those that like to immerse in history. + The attention to details in the rooms, the dedication to the authenticity (like electrical lights are hidden with wood) is remarkable. + The room we booked had a great view of the town. Comfy beds. + We stayed during Christmas and the pool and spa baths in the caves were toasty warm. + The daily rituals (symposium with snacks and wine, the water ritual) are phenomenal and well done. + Breakfast was unique as well, all in the ancient style. + Free shuttle from the parking garage outside of the center as well (not far) + Very friendly staff

We were on a road trip and stayed here four nights in the upstairs apartment. It was brilliant, airy, clean. The breakfast was amazing and staff really helpful. It's peaceful with a lovely swimming pool. A short drive to nice sandy beach and plenty of restaurants a drive away. It's in the countryside, surrounded by orange trees and very relaxing.

From our very arrival at the hotel's motorized gate through to our goodbyes we were delighted with the hotel and staff at the Santavenere! Everyone was very friendly and helpful at the hotel and the property is a joy to spend time relaxing, swimming and eating. The attention to detail and the quality of everything is amazing. It all feels authentic to Italy though and so many of the staff we spoke to are from the area. The breakfasts are to die for and unfortunately time did not allow for a dinner meal at the hotel. Swimming was a delight as were the waterfront lounge beds and staff. The front desk organized a private water tour by boat and it was spectacular. We are returning for a long stay and we look forward to it!
