Food is amazing with lots of choices ( we are vegetarian) and the even the breakfast coffee tastes lovely! ( unusual!)

The guided walks they provide are nice to do — we made two different routes on two different days and both were wonderful.

Found this place somewhat randomly and spent 3 night in their basic rooms, with the deck. The architecture, interior design, food, and most importantly service were impeccable and very high value for the money we spent. Especially the staff.. they went above an beyond to make sure you felt welcome and pampered. Great location if you want to spend a bit of time away and up in the mountains (hills) of Portugal. Highly recommended. p.s. We did make a stop for dinner at the higher rated (5 star) hotel owned by the same group. This location compared to that felt nicer. Both the interior design and people felt a lot warmer here.

Located in Sabugueiro, within the natural landscape of Serra da Estrela Natural Park, this 4-star hotel features an à la carte restaurant and a bar. Friendly and attentive staff. The entire hotel is clean, in good condition and well maintained. Good location for exploring the rest of Serra de Estrela as it saves you at least an hour’s worth of travel every day compared to towns in the valley. Restaurant has a large enough menu to try something different every evening and all is delicious. On a rainy day I just relaxed in the spa (sauna and small swimming pool)
