There's also a thriving board games scene if you're into that or Galeries Lafayette and Printemps if you're not. We visited Amboise Chateau and Leonardo's Clos Luce. Both were excellent Chenonceau was lovely and very easy to get to by train and was worth two or three hours if you like gardens too. There's some fantastic art by Tinteretto, Rubens and more. We also got a train to Blois and visited the Chateau. It isn't large but was interesting and the child audio guide was useful. Its a nice little town to wander round too.”

“OK, worth reading before you book. Most friendly place I ever stayed at. Laurent the landlord is very friendly, very helpful and has every single detail planned. Moreover as a local he knows better than all travel guides combined together do. He will talk you through absolutely everything: where to eat, where to go, where to drink, how to travel (he even ordered a taxi for me as my French is non-existent), what to do and all stuff you will not read on traveladvisor etc. Apart from that he's got all this info prepared in a folder with names, addresses, telephone numbers etc. What we also found very helpful is that he is flexible on check-out time. Great! The apartment is just outside old town, close to a bus stop, local markets and grocery shops. Basic kitchen stuff as salt, sugar, spices, olive oil and vinegar , tea, coffee were available. And best of all the bed was marvellous!”

“This is an apartment with complete set up near the main square, Congress Center, train station of Tours. It is enough set up for 8 persons to live. We did not know that we pay for 8 persons while we were just 4. So if we knew that we could changed our plan. But this property is excellent money wise for 8 persons. It has 4 rooms with one double beds in each. It is double apartment. Two rooms with dining room and kitchen in the first floor and two bedroom on the top. It has about 40 stairs to reach to the first room. So it might not be good if someone can not use stairs. There is no sign of hotel or apartment at all. Just please remember number of building, 30.”

I stayed there because of a conference at the Faculte des Tanneurs and this place is right across the university; very easy! at the other end of the street there are plenty of restaurants and shops.
