My staying in Calama was just for one night while travelling...
My staying in Calama was just for one night while travelling from Uyuni to Santiago, catching a flight at the nearby airport. I've walked the streets for a little bit during the day, I felt safe enough but didn't see anything interesting. It's dusty outside.

This is a great hotel complex with a great restaurant I'm just not sure that you would really want to stay there given that there is really nothing touristy to do in Calama. A number of websites including the Chile Govt indicate that you can day trip to San Pedro de Atacama on a daily basis from Calama which is not true. You would have to relocate to San Pedro de Atacama to be able to fully take advantage of tours in the region because the start times are 05.00 am. The hotel advertises under Reception services Tour Desk and when I asked, they said that they didn't and would have to go to a bus company in the town centre or another hotel which advertises tour to San Pedros etc but that hotel doesn't. Having walked the streets of Calama and being referred from one bus company to another There are NO TOUR COMPANIES IN CALAMA. You have to go to San Pedro de Atacama and stay there if seeing the Atacama region is what you want to do.

Calama in itself is not the destination.
Calama in itself is not the destination. It's an overnight point for San pedro atacama if you have an early or late flight in. There is nothing to see other than a big mine. The airport is really nice and new. The town has a big Lider like Wal-Mart for supplies. Not great eating options, we bought empanadas off a guy outside Lider and drove onto San pedro. Watch out for gas stations, guy tried to charge us extra 20000 pesos!
A basic, clean family run hotel. The family running it is helpful, friendly and patient with all of our requests and poor Spanish. We got take out chicken dinner from the little place next door and the hotel let us eat in their breakfast room, providing plates and silverware. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The room with two beds had a refrigerator and a door to a small courtyard patio. Breakfast was good, with cooked eggs to order, electric kettle for tea, milk, homemade coffee cake, etc.
Great place to stay for an early flight out of Calama. Safe, well appointed, very comfortable, pleasant landscape, parking in front of your cabin, attentive owners. Includes breakfast which they brought to us in the evening. There is a restaurant on site but we cooked our own dinner. They arranged an afternoon taxi for us to go into town. Very glad we stayed here rather than drive early morning from San Pedro.
Service was great all around. We arrived very early, they took care of our luggage, let us use the bathrooms to freshen up after a 16h bus ride and we even got a free coffee. Reception desk was very helpful in organizing transfer to Calama Airport. On top, the well equipped gym (for hotels) was great and the breakfast menu was very diverse.
This is the most modern and nicest place we have stayed in Chile. A newish apartment with a view and balcony. After initial communication problems with the owner which he was apologetic for we enjoyed our stay here as a bit of luxury compared to our usual.
Close to the heart of the city this place is comparably excellent value
The hotel has an on site restaurant with an amazing breakfast buffet! A free welcome Pisco drink was also offered, the staff was super nice and helpful. Easy access from the airport (we were looking for an airport hotel to spend the night before we pick up our rental car the next day). Overall, great value for the expense.
Really affordable accommodation in Calama. Worked for us for 1 really short night. Only cash payment upon arrival. Host is very friendly. He even picked us at the airport for a small amount.
Located near the airport, city centre is a small ride away.
Hotel in a convenient location and a clever 3 bed solution with a bunk. Mattresses were comfy and sheets proper, and staff very helpful but shower and toilet were full of long hair from a previous guest. Also the carpet in the hallway was not clean.
Landowner and her family are very nice, kind and helpfull people. Paula (not sure about her name) offered me a drive to the airport, cause i had the box with the bicycle and it is hard to find a big taxi in Calama (and in Chile as well).
LOVED it! I think it's the best hotel in Calama, considering value for money. Great breakfast, rooms amazing, nice pool and outside area. We even extended our stay, because we got sick and there was no better place to rest than here.
The hotel is close to the airport and the staff is amazingly friendly. The room is very spacious. Don’t miss having dinner at the restaurant because the food is amazing! Same for breakfast.
Excellent location with food, stores, and bus terminal closeby! Friendly and very helpful stuff. Well served breakfast! National football team use this same hotel when we stay here!
