Great environment. Clean and quite big space on our double room.
Shower room water was very slow and not hot enough.
Location is excellent. Breakfast is superb with excellent quality produce. Staff were helpful, polite and responsive.Tweedies bar serves excellent food, can definitely recommend.Room (17) was large and spacious with plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Property is a converted large house and appears to have undergone a recent refurbishment which added a welcome freshness. All in all the stay was very very good value
Bed was not very comortable could do with looking at. Also no view from my room (17) and whilst not a deal breaker it would have been nice to see something of the surrounding area/countryside.
Staff - excellent Bar - good choice and prices about right Restaurant - very good quality food Room - spacious, quiet clean and comfortable
We weren't there long enough to enjoy it more
Staff were all helpful and courteous Beautiful setting in heart of Grasmere
On the first night we arrived a little late and ate in Tweedies Bar....part of the hotel. £14.50 for a steak pie is too much. The next two nights we drove to a favourite restaurant in Ambleside
Friendly Service and atmosphere Excellent Location Good Parking Warm & Clean Comfortable facilities Wholesome food
Lack of ventilation in Bathroom
Hotel in a good location in the middle of an historic village in the Lake District. Comfortable hotel in a garden setting with its own pub attached. Easy parking
Wi Fi a bit hit and miss;
All staff members were very pleasant and full of personality and a good sense of fun. This contributed to an eventful stay in the bar area. Food was excellent at all times.
High prices asked in the high season holiday periods.
Very Expensive Bar prices First room very small but moved good job not full.
Location is good,parking,breakfast was good.
Noise from bar until 2am,being next to the laundry room and washing machine being on full spin at midnight, bathroom wasn't in great condition being a premier room, main bedroom had too much chipped paintwork for my liking!(overpriced by a long way).
Central position in Grasmere.
Location very central but with own grounds well back from road and large mature beech trees. Hall and lounge area elegant and spacious. An excellent pub - with a choice of real ales and the hotel's food alongside [and part of the same concern].
Our particular bedroom was somewhat cramped [though we did have a heavily discounted booking].
The room, the bed and the great breakfasts. Also the availability of food and drinks in Tweedies bar or the restaurant.
Nothing to dislike. Would perhaps have liked drying room for wet boots/waterproofs!
Location in central Grasmere Exterior and reception rooms look smart Good breakfasts served quickly Price (special rates) Upgraded to executive suite at no extra cost Good facilities in room including hair dryer, iron and ironing board, dressing table. gym and spa access at Langdale Country Club (I didn't use but good to know)
Cleanliness of room (the rest of the hotel good) - blood spots on end of bed and small scratches of blood on sheets. Furniture needs thorough cleaning or replacing (stains or chipped paint). Brown stain down toilet (removed after second night) Small TV and not many channels (remote control also needed cleaning)
We got a special rate for a one night stay that was very good value. The hotel provided everything we needed after a strenuous walk. Tweedies restaurant provided a good selection of meals.
Location Atmosphere View from the room Sitting room
We arrived at the Hotel to a warm welcome and were shown up to our room by the Lady on reception. The room was great with tea and coffee, TV and Wi Fi. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was plenty warm enough. We ate at Tweedies Bar and had an excellent meal of Venison with a couple of nice bottles of Chenin The breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of choice. All the staff were helpful and friendly and we shall certainly stay at the Dale Lodge again. I stay at a lot of high quality hotels with my job and these are usually formal and starchy, the atmosphere at the Dale Lodge suits me a lot better!
The WiFi was a bit patchy and I can't get on with the name 'Tweedies Bar' which sounds a bit tacky but I assume there is a reason for the twee name!
Pet friendly good parking friendly helpful staff.food in Tweedies has improved .
We thoroughly enjoyed dining in Tweedies Bar each evening- the food was marvellous and the staff- particularly the boys team- were absolutely excellent- really friendly and helpful- what a pleasure! The hotel setting and warmth was just lovely. All the staff were super.
We felt our room was very dark- lighting minimal to the point of over economy... also the bed wasn't at all comfortable- rather thin mattress and wooden frame made for not a great nights sleep. Managed to get an extra blanket on request but not one in the room.Considering the wonderful peaceful setting it was a real shame!
Lounge, breakfast,location,room facilities.
Lack of natural light in room. Dogs seen in residents lounge.
Products in room, the room was very comfortable light and airy, staff that was on wednesdayand thursday was lovely nothing too much trouble was made to feel really welcome. Hotel was in good location, food at breakfast was piping hot and excellent value. Plenty of choice.
Breakfast on friday was very dissapointing. Staff got our breakfast wrong twice, had to wait for our table to be cleared for quite a long time. We understand that the hotel was alot busier on friday but that shouldn't of made a difference. As it was a special break for my husbands 60th birthday i felt very upset that everything didn't go to plan.
The standard of the lobby area is far better than the quality of the bedroom!
Room 14 is over-rated. It should be classified as a Standard room, not a 'Classic' room. It's very small and the white paintwork is badly chipped. My wife and I were offered a dinner table, in their Tweedys bar restaurant, that was only big enough for 1 person to sit at comfortably (It made me laugh, but the waiter could not see why it amused me!). But what made me laugh even more was that there were no eggs available for breakfast!. What a 'yoke'! :-) And a first for my wife and I in our 40+ years of seasoned travelling. We have stayed at this hotel before, but will not be returning again.
Great location in the centre of the village.
Wi-Fi was hardly ever working throughout our 2 night stay. Waitress at breakfast was miserable, didn't even say good morning. We asked for a thinner duvet or a sheet as the bedroom was very hot but we never received it. Overall we were rather disappointed.
Good hotel with good rooms, really like it here.
Breakfast took nearly half an hour to come and was cold - sad really because the kitchen here is amazing but they were out performed by the Llama Karma cafe
enjoyable stay, hotel in the heart of grasmere staff attentive and excellent bar/restaurant on site, a great base for walking biking painting photography or motoring, excellent base if you want to follow the wordsworth trail
bedroom only adequate (shower room small) also no lift
Location and the fact it is a family run business.
There was no view out of the window just a roof top. If we were staying longer than one night we would have asked to be moved, if possible, to a room with a much better outlook.
