Just about everything was right in our weekend stay at Dale Lodge, food, beer, room and Grasmere.
On this cold and wet weekend the CH cutting out, which made the room cold.......made better by a loaned heater.
Good room with a view over the gardens. Great pub attached with a good selection of real ales. Tremendous breakfast with plenty of choice.
Nothing to report.
The room we were given was just perfect for our short break.
There was no power plug at the dressing table. My wife found it difficult do fix her hair. A minor irritation but it wont stop us returning to this hotel.
The food was amazing and tweedies pub had a excellent selection of ales. Lovely location. Would return to this hotel. Staff are friendly and interact with conversation. but they didnt sparkle
All the staff at this hotel are very friendly that is what keeps us going back.
We feel that that the rooms are a little over priced for what you get, but if you can get a good deal with booking.com then they become more value for money.
A very nice hotel in a good location. Good access from A591and some good local walking. Excellent range of real ales in Tweedies bar
Shower was a little under powered at busy times
The hotel, the hot tub, the staff & the location
Bed not very comfy, room sofa was dirty, wifi didn't work all the time
The location was ideal for hill-walking. The guests' lounge was comfortable and welcoming.
The same, very efficient, young lady was on reception when we arrived, was our waitress at dinner and again at breakfast. Perhaps a little too efficient as the main course arrived before we had finished our starters at both dinner and breakfast! Beware room 16, the en-suite is tiny.
Excellent ambience, very relaxed, great breakfast. Friendly atmosphere. Had choice of quiet restaurant or locally popular Tweedies Bar. Ample parking. Games Lounge with piano, board games and wood stove.
No internal access from hotel to Tweedies Bar.
The Hotel is in the centre of the village, large spacious grounds and the room was large and comfortable. Staff all friendly and the food in the adjoining bar excellent
restaurant menu good veggie choice (not the usual stuff) lounge area value for money
Good situation in middle of village. Friendly atmosphere. Great breakfasts. Helpful staff. Would return if had improved room space.
Bed springs uncomfortable and rather small room with even smaller shower facility.
I liked Tweedies Bar for great food and drink.
Late start to breakfast of 8:30 am, couldn't start walking until we had breakfast. £180 for executive room quite pricey.
Stayed at Dale Lodge this past weekend for a relatively last minute getaway ahead of returning to work. Room was a decent size with drinks facilities and TV etc. Plenty of storage space. This place really does have a fab central location and at a reduced booking.com rate of £91 per night for B&B was pretty good value.
We were placed in room 17 which appeared to be on the inside of the hotel (i.e. no view) and is also above one of the kitchens so was pretty noisy from 7am through to about half 10 at night. We didn't receive a room with a bath despite requesting it at booking on medical grounds. Breakfast on the Saturday was cold and overcooked. Contrast that with a clearly cooked to order breakfast on Sunday and I wonder if a different chef was on duty. Tweedies Bar is part of the same establishment but is pretty over-priced, A "main of 2 pieces of Halloumi with a potato cake, a pot of fried whitebait and hand cooked chips set us back £22 which was then capped off with a £3 pint of post mix coke... A pity really as it had the potential to have a different review if the prices had been more reasonable.
Relaxing ambience and friendly staff. Very good breakfast.
The first room that we were given. Very small and cramped. No room to move. Think it was no 18. Hotel was not busy and we were staying for more than one night. Bigger room given on request but surprised at being given such a small room when other rooms were available. Was also told when handed the key that it was a cold room but there was an extra heater in it!
Service poor, room shabby and cold , Windows ill fitting, radiator inadequate, power went off twice. This is a very poor value for money place. The quality is worse than budget hotel standard and they charge far too much for what you get. They need a massive overhaul and a review of customer service and standards to continue to charge what they do. Has anyone from booking.com ever actually visited this place??
Great location in the middle of Grasmere. Room 8 was great. Comfy bed.
Water temp was Luke warm and the shower was a dribble. But guess there was a problem in my room as other guests we spoke too were OK! WiFi was very hit and miss also but again I was told there was a problem n the whole area.
Great environment. Clean and quite big space on our double room.
Shower room water was very slow and not hot enough.
Location is excellent. Breakfast is superb with excellent quality produce. Staff were helpful, polite and responsive.Tweedies bar serves excellent food, can definitely recommend.Room (17) was large and spacious with plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Property is a converted large house and appears to have undergone a recent refurbishment which added a welcome freshness. All in all the stay was very very good value
Bed was not very comortable could do with looking at. Also no view from my room (17) and whilst not a deal breaker it would have been nice to see something of the surrounding area/countryside.
Staff - excellent Bar - good choice and prices about right Restaurant - very good quality food Room - spacious, quiet clean and comfortable
We weren't there long enough to enjoy it more
Staff were all helpful and courteous Beautiful setting in heart of Grasmere
On the first night we arrived a little late and ate in Tweedies Bar....part of the hotel. £14.50 for a steak pie is too much. The next two nights we drove to a favourite restaurant in Ambleside
Friendly Service and atmosphere Excellent Location Good Parking Warm & Clean Comfortable facilities Wholesome food
Lack of ventilation in Bathroom
Hotel in a good location in the middle of an historic village in the Lake District. Comfortable hotel in a garden setting with its own pub attached. Easy parking
Wi Fi a bit hit and miss;
All staff members were very pleasant and full of personality and a good sense of fun. This contributed to an eventful stay in the bar area. Food was excellent at all times.
High prices asked in the high season holiday periods.
Very Expensive Bar prices First room very small but moved good job not full.
