Location was great for access to the national park and town centres. We stayed 2 nights in a premier room which was very luxurious with 4 poster bed and fabulous bath, double sinks and walk in shower. We dined in the lounge on our first evening which I thought was decent value. We dined in the Rib Room on our final evening- and had a lovely porterhouse steak and paid as much as you would in any nice restaurant. We found the staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was cooked to order and we were served local produce- very filling!
The statue of the man in reception never failed to freak me out a bit!!
Location comfortable large bed nice view large bathroom
Poor coffee both in room and at breakfast
A lovely large room, huge shower and bath. Beautiful grounds. Room service was reasonably priced and delicious!
The rooms wer large spacious and luxurious what a change from the usual hotel room! The price was excellent value will definitely go back but drive next time
The locatin was a bit in the middle of nowhere and if you hav no transport it was costly to get to by taxi! Just a bit too far from public transport!
The tiny room we were given. I booked this room well in advance (in May) and was really disappointed with it. I'm pleased we were only there for one night
Cracking nite good service at bar
Bathroom was huge with a lovely free standing bath and shower with 5 sprays! Room lovely size, bed really comfortable Breakfast really good, nice to see poached eggs, liked the breakfast being cooked to order rather than buffet style Plenty of parking Beautiful setting and views
Some of the furniture was a bit mis -matched not very coordinated. TV - we had to keep retuning it for the television every time we turned it on. Breakfast very good but thought a 4 star hotel would offer freshly squeezed orange juice.
Very comfortable night in a great bed with luxurious linen.
Ate in the steak restaurant - just a little disappointed with quality of fillet. Had great expectations, but weren't met.
Gorgeous room Food was exceptional (fish and chips) Grounds are exquisite
Check out time could be later.
Nice cosy bar area. Fantastic grounds. Excellent steaks. The executive rooms are spacious and comfortable
Nothing to speak of
On arrival was shown to a very small room I compalined as and was shown to another room which was no better. I was given a third room that smelt of food and had no heating. When I complained again I was told that it was not the best room in the hotel as it was over the kitchen. I was told there was no other rooms available. I was not prepared to pay £90 for a room that was so small and had heating so I checked out.
Very quite hotel with good views over the lake. The staff and quality of the rooms are of a very high standard. I would always recommend this hotel.
Lovely grounds, beautiful building, good restaurant with excellent food.
A very small room and very hot (the walls were radiating heat), but I couldn't leave window open as faced immediately over the air-conditioning outlets for the kitchens that fired up around 4am - I didn't get much sleep after that. Breakfast looked lovely, but I gave up waiting after 20 minutes as no staff re-appeared to take a cooked order after they brought me coffee and pointed me to the cereals table. I paid £40 more than others attending a local seminar who booked direct a few days after I had gone through Booking.com. When I left they didn't ask if everything had been alright - which was just as well as I was tired, hungry and a little grumpy by then.
The room was large and very comfortable. A huge luxurious bed with no noise so a very good nights sleep. The bathroom was large with double sink so easy for both of us to get ready. We had dinner in the restaurant which has an excellent choice and intimate tables, the staff are friendly and the service was excellent.
I like the location, the restaurant, and the bar area
I think it needs updating a bit. My TV remote was missing so I had to move rooms. The room was ok but a little claustrophobic!
Our room felt very luxurious, loved the decor, comfort and size of bed. Bathroom was of a good quality
Spacious room, excellent bathroom and shower. Good food
Could turn the heating off and window could be left open as on ground floor. Food was good but a little on the pricey side
Everythng, Great location, hotle and grounds. Restaraunt serves excellent food. Staff very helpful and friendly
There is nothting not to like
This was a first class visit from start to finish. We were treat like VIP's my special requests were met. The room and service were excellent. We had a wonderful time and were only sorry we couldn't have stayed longer. Looking forward to the next visit. Absolutely perfect.
There was nothing to dislike.
Only problem we had was the noise, with the corridors been tiled you could here people clip clopping
Well appointed room Lovely bathroom Huge comfy bed
The room was wonderful, we were situated at the front of the hotel with amazing views overlooking Hardwick Park, as well as having a gorgeous bathroom with two sinks, a large walk-in shower and a separate toilet with a glass courtesy door. The reception staff were very helpful both times I called with enquiries before staying, which was much appreciated! The price for one night in a double room (without breakfast- £10 pp) was £65 on a Sunday night, the room was deluxe although I suspect it may have been a complimentary upgrade as I didn't book one! My partner and I were both very impressed and happy with the stay, I would happily have paid at least another £25. There are multiple lovely restaurants nearby, including The Ministers (Indian) and The County (upmarket bistro/restaurant) but the steakhouse inside the hotel is also good. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a scenic getaway!
Upon arriving to breakfast around half an hour before serving stopped, my partner and I were instructed to sit at a table for two by a slightly frosty older woman. While there were lots of tables for four and six left, the only table for two was right at the back of the restaurant, meaning that it took a good ten minutes to try and catch the eye of any staff to clear our empty plates, which quickly cluttered the tiny table. Had they been busy, this would have been understandable, but we were the last to arrive to breakfast and the room was hardly bustling. This left us with a bad taste in our mouths (pun intended!) getting virtually ignored by staff and sitting surrounded by larger, empty tables. Other than this, the stay would have been perfect but I feel as though the attitude of some of the breakfast staff unfortunately spoiled the last hour of our break.
