Dramatically located between the mountains and the sea, Hen-Dy has a vast network of walks straight from your door, including tracks into the mountains and lush woodlands and paths leading down to the beach. The nearby village of Dyffry Ardudwy has a long sandy beach backed by nature reserve sand dunes, as well as a railway station which takes you along the scenic coast. A mile or so across the fields and forest you will also find the riverside Ysgethin Inn, with a reputation for fine food and beers. Just a short drive or scenic train ride away is Harlech, perhaps known best for its imposing castle, a World Heritage Site which stands proud over the town and beach below. It is open to visitors throughout the year, seasonal times. Claiming the steepest street in the northern hemisphere(!), also in Harlech you’ll find a great array of shops and eateries as well as a base for outdoor activities including paddleboarding, kayaking and mountain bike hire.
