Comfortable bed and pillows Coffee Machine
Poor quality food at dinner. Quoting prices for dinner which were exclusive of VAT
Entrance hall and reception hall, relaxing, comfortable, capable, attentive and helpful staff
Beds and rooms although they were rather on the warm side and a very very long way down the corridor
Too far to walk to the room
Service and food ,very good
Décor dated and jaded and in some cases in need of immediate replacement - e.g.stair carpet
The architecture of the building. The size of the guest rooms and the spa leisure facilities that were included. Chris the head waiter was particularly attentive throughout our meal and made our evening meal special.
Expensive bar and meal prices. You state that dress code for dinner is smart casual.(No Jeans T.shirts or Trainers) why were we the odd ones out abiding by the dress code!?
Staff Food Area
The public spaces feel very luxurious, and there are plenty of spots to have a snack, a full meal or just ponder. The spa is quite good - very relaxing - and the grounds are good for wandering around.
Some of the standard bedrooms are pretty shabby and urgently need updating. We had a dripping tap which was really irritating as I could hear it all night. Bar prices are very high too.
The locality food & beverage Good
Our room was 271 , the lighting Was very poor making the room Quite gloomy
The surroundings, the spa, the food and the attentive staff.
The bedroom we had chosen (348) was a little tires and in need of some modernisation as regards furniture.
A beautiful old building. Lovely room except it was a bit draughty near the window. The steam rooms in the health treatment and swimming pool. It's quite exhilarating. Coffee in the lounge towards reception. The service was very fast. Came in a silver coffee jug plus four biscuits.
Poor signage. We arrived late in the evening and it was dark. We landed up going the back door of the restaurant and there was no one there at all. No one to help with bags so had to drag it round and round the place. Asked a hotel guest and he directed us to Reception. Ordered room service and somehow the food was bland. Came with a dessert knife instead of a dinner knife so you have this huge plate with a large dinner fork and dessert knife.
Newly refurbished room was far better than the basic rooms we saw. Fantastic staff, especially concierge Graham. Breakfast was delicious. Leisure facilities.
Having to move twice, eventually upgrading to a newly refurbished room. Basic rooms were disappointing.
Staff leisure facilities breakfast champagne bar
price of drinks
Location of hotel. Spa facilities. Breakfast facilities
Obviously as we booked via Booking.com we were given one of the poorer rooms - over looking the dustbins at the back of the hotel - very pleasant. We would have complained if it wasn't for the fact we were only there for 1 night. No bath robes or slippers for the spa in the hotel room and they wouldn't give them to us at the Spa. It took us 25 mins to get served in the bar in the evening so gave up and went to the bar ourselves
Lovely location, friendly welcome and room well positioned and very comfortable. Could not get TV to work but this was fixed promptly , although should have been checked that everything was in working order
Had dinner in the restaurant, had to send starters back as advertised as 'goats cheese' mousse, it was totally tasteless which was a shame. However the starters were quickly changed and dealt with in a professional friendly way. Restaurant is a little over priced for the quality on offer and I am used to London prices!. Toast in the morning was hot bread. Work is needed on the restaurant as letting the hotel down.
Liked the relaxing atmosphere , the staff , the bar ,
Had to a long way /walk to our room , The restaurant was full, we then had to walk a distance to somewhere else to eat The air conditioning was set to high we slept terrible
The hotel is beautiful, set in 300 acres of gardens, golf course and woodland. Our stay was very nice. The spa treatment was amazing and the leisure facilities are great!
setting is impressive, there is enough staff and they're friendly and attentive and the overall impression is that this place is amongst the best that Yorkshire has to offer
when they are at their busiest things can get a little noisy and car parking can be fraught with little or no management of the available space. The car parks, especially the rear one, if used at night, is very badly lit, the route to reception isn't clear and some aspects of service take a little longer to happen
Staff we're very friendly and helpful, carrying bags for my wife and getting my breakfast order from the items on offer. Try carrying a tray when you use a walking stick, i'm disabled
Wifi, it only worked if you stood next to the door into the corridor. Room 217
Champagne bar is really nice and main building interior is impressive
Didn't enjoy the restaurant does not reflect fine dining, food wasn't impressive
Great stay, great staff very friendly could not do enough for me and the wife. Can't wait for next visit.
Really like the location and facilities
Evening meal in restaurant Food not cooked to liking Drink too slow
The rooms are all lovely even the basic doubles. The spa is very nice and loved the Champagne Bar, drinks and food very nice! This was my second stay and I will return.
The Staff and facilities were excellent
grounds, the room,setting
drink prices are getting a little too high, only a champagne bar other than going outside, i,m sure you used to have a moor casual bar
Cost of food for the quality which was average
