More controllable heating in the room following replacement of previous system
Really good service and very comfortable lounge areas with big sofas and roaring fire. Deer in the garden were a lovely surprise.
Beautiful location, very comfortable, food excellent. The main building is a treasure.
For some reason the wifi in the annexe was not allowing me to logon. Hopefully a temporary problem.
A freshly cooked breakfast.
We enjoyed the homely atmosphere, the friendly staff and the beautiful room.
Problems with wifi.
third stay here and as ever a first class experience.Friendly attentive staff, superbly comfortable beds.Food remarkably good in a classic setting.
The location and style of the hotel. The staff who were all friendly, well-mannered and helpful. The meals.
Toilet seat in en suite not clean when we arrived. No other concerns regarding cleanliness. Noisy occupant of adjacent room (after midnight). Don't like memory foam topping on mattress.
Very comfortable bed, lovely classic feel and character, good food, warm powerful shower, nice and quiet hotel
Nothing major but although the staff were attentive they were not overly friendly with the exception of one or two.
Great ambience, we love to sit near the log fire with our coffee after a delicious meal.
Staff were lovely, very comfy and really relaxing.
Breakfast too early for a getaway weekend break, 8 - 9:30 is more catering to business than leisure. Ideal would be until at least 10:30 on the weekend. This alone would put me off returning which is a pity.
Pleasant location. Old Scottish charm in hotel.
Staff not overly friendly. Breakfast not very organised-had to ask for milk, butter, hot toast.....also contacted hotel after our stay to ask about an item I had lost-staff said they would get back to us but didn't so took two more calls to sort it out-staff did not seem bothered and not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.
Friendly staff,w arm atmosphere
The hotel was very elegant and old fashioned. We loved the board games which were available in the lounge. Dinner was very good accompanied by a reasonably priced wine list.
At around 9.30pm the lights were dimmed and the bar closed down. We probably could have asked for another drink but they clearly wanted to close up. The pillows were far too soft and did not give any support. Breakfast in the morning was lovely but the smoked haddock had not been pin boned and one of our party got a bone stuck in her throat.
Quiet hotel, individual rooms very spacious with character. Beautiful hotel, warm, ideally situated above Pitlochry with an easy walk to the town. Very friendly staff, excellent service and delicious food. Always looked forward to Dinner as the standard is very high on taste and quality. This is our 4th visit and we hope to return again next year!
beautiful hotel well maintained with a lot of character lovely rooms spacious and really comfortable staff lovely and helpful
returned to hotel following a meal elsewhere with friends and found hotel and bar shut. had hoped to have a drink at bar beside fire before going to bed - would have stayed out later had we been aware of this
This hotel built in the 1880s as a mansion has many of the original fittings and has a lot of character. It features lounges with log-burning stoves, most welcome on a frosty evening. The room we had was more than adequate with user controlled warm-air central heating. The evening meal was skilfully presented and the waiting staff were pleasant and efficient. This meal and an excellent breakfast (individually served hot choice) rounded off a very pleasant wedding anniversary break. The hotel's situation is ideal for local walks and we enjoyed a 2.5 hour ramble around the local loch and woods after checking out. It was handy to use the hotel's cloakroom before heading south. This hotel is about the best we have found in the area, we will be back.
Not really a dislike, but a few extra vegetables at dinner would have been welcome. I ran out with meat to spare!
Lovely stay, excellent food
The hotels ambience
Friendly and very efficient staff Excellent food Good quiet location Enjoyable evening at the Festival Theatre and restaurant Good selection of walks nearby
everything. food was excellent. staff great.
bar closes at 2300 hrs. front door locked - we could not open it from the inside at 2300. very dangerous. nobody de-ices the front, the car park or the walkway. slipped twice. didi not sue the hotel - should have as I am in pain now. very long way from the theatre and there's no taxi - can you believe this - unless you book one week in advance ??? 2 firms one car each - all busy. nobody interested in making money. bring over some polish drivers and watch the locals then !
A very enjoyable stay. Staff attentive but not overly. Would recommend to others.
Only one small thing. I requested fried egg at breakfast and was given scrambled. Didn't say anything as did not want to wait until it was changed. Still excellent though.
