Excellent location, right in the middle of Ambleside. Comfortable/functional B&B Hotel with amenable staff. Ideal base from which to travel around the Lakes.
Parking situation not ideal, had to pay to park in the public car park on the first day, but parked on the steeet on the second night, just round the corner. Breakfast not great at all.
Location is ideal, right in the middle of Ambleside.
Would have thought a member of staff would have been available to carry luggage upstairs. My elderly mother found the stairs a struggle I had to do two trips up and down.
Location of hotel was handy for shops, was able to park outside.Could come and go freely staff were helpful, but not in your face.
Bed quality, terrible Shower, a disaster Heating, absent Breakfast, obvious Level of cleanliness
Free internet and the location close to the university
Parking spaces are a bit hit & miss during the day but is probably to be expected due to the location right in the centre of town, but we did manage to park right outside overnight.
The rooms where larger than we expected for the price. Also as we were on the first floor, the Wifi was available from the bar below.
The staff were very friendly, the rooms a little tired but clean. The location was perfect.
the only thing wrong was lack of parking.
location of the hotel and was near the buses. left the car behind and used public transport.
Traffic noise was loud. Parking in Ambleside is a real pain unless you are lucky enough to get into the hotel's tiny carpark. Decor was tired.
Good beer and food, especially the generous breakfast. Friendly staff.
At first, we struggled to find a parking space. We managed to find a temporary space at the back of the hotel. The following day when people checked out we did manage to find a space at the side of the hotel, which was the smallest car park ever, but managed to squeeze our car in. This is the biggest problem parking in Ambleside. Parking is on a come first only, so you have to get there pretty early if you are staying at this hotel.
The location of Ambleside is really lovely. Beautiful walks to go on and maps available from local post office at a charge of 90p. Our room was adequate and fitted our needs. Good size room and tea/coffee facilities available which is a bonus. The room is dated and could do with upgrading. The shower could of been more powerful and the lighting in the bathroom needs to be brighter. If you need anything extra the staff are only too helpful to get it for you. Thank you for the lady who gave me a tub from the kitchen to put our packed lunch in. The English breakfast was nice. A few cereals to choose from if you didn't feel like a hot breakfast. Mark the manager was very good at giving advice, very sociable and always seemed relaxed. He also has another name called Steve, but likes to be called that when he has a bad day, but we didn't see that side of him. Overall we had a pleasant stay.
It locates at the downtown and the room is very nice.
Room was very small and draughty.
Great breakfast. Good bar. Liked the board games collection and so did others staying there.
Meal on second evening
Friendliness of staff
Cellar bar 7th birthday techno and house event until 2.30am - so music noise and all smokers under our window.
Location in centre!
Queens Hotel was excellent value for money right in the centre of Ambleside. Parking was convenient and we had a very good breakfast in our room and pleasant dinner in the hotel restaurant. Would recommend.
I liked it all!
The welcoming, homely decor. The friendliness and thoughtfulness of the staff. The warmth of the room. The 'hotel feeling'. The mix of guests.
Few hairs in the bathroom. The bed was comfy although the four poster was a cheap metal frame and not very luxurious considering the price we paid. It would have been better to stay in a normal room.
Location was great, staff were friendly. The bar/ restaurant has a great atmosphere in the evening
Hotel is dated and needs modernising However the condition is reflected in the cost
Location Staff service
more staff are needed, it may be march but one bar staff and one server in the restaurant was very poor. there were lots of annoyed people
Rooms were clean nice. Staff were friendly and helpful.
bedroom cold in morning heating wasn't on bathroom very small bed's move about on castors
Food was excellent at evening meal breakfast was warm
Limited parking given its central location. Was a bit noisy at night from the bar beneath us.
Staff were really helpful and its location was ideal. Wifi worked really well.
The bathroom was tiny and not very clean
Room on 3rd floor. I have arthritis in both knees so 3rd floor too much. Only stayed 1 night out of intended 3 nights.
Evening meal in restaurant delicious and good value
Good food pleasant staff
