My 4th stay this year as always the steaks are to die for. It is a great venue for me.
The xmas trees, the decor very festive, the beautiful room all the staff very very friendly
There is nothing that I didn't like
Beautiful room and hotel
- Broken bathroom lock - poor wifi - renovations/expansion at entrance bit of an eyesore
Location Speed of check in The design of the room
Lack of lighting to get ready
Location is superb.
Room lovely and bed very comfortable
Being crammed into a function room !far too many people seated together
Warm welcome at reception; easy to use wi-fi. Didn't eat as I arrived late - easy check in / out and helpful when required.
We could not falt the room it was large clean with all our needs
The Carvery was cold and dated the staff need to have a lesson on how to treat guests as They are paying there wages. We would not stay at this venue again or recommend it to any one
The bed was huge and really comfortable also breakfast was lovely
3 floors to go for cigarette
Rooms very nice
Poor wine selection in bar and restaurants. Food was overpriced in the Rib Room and quality had dropped since previous year.
the people at reception were excellent and very helpful - especially Becky. Nothing too much trouble. Soya milk provided for our morning tea.
Carvery not up to standard - poor choice, badly displayed - unappealing. Restaurant full. Stone backed pizza option seemed to be a small machine. Staff uninterested. So we went elsewhere for dinner. £12.95 each for breakfast is extortionate so we also went elsewhere. Will stay somewhere more central with better food food options another time.
Nice staff and comfortable bed
Too many people packed into function room, food was poor and tasteless, room wasn't vacuumed properly and bathroom light did work, leading to our electricity being shut off for a short while (although staff member was helpful and kind). Expected a lot more for this type of hotel!
rib room main course poor, peppercorn sauce more like gravy and chicken tough , service great had lovely evening with old friends would return but not have chicken
Good location close to Durham and in a nice quiet park/golf course. Good size Deluxe room- very spacious. Dinner in The Rib restaurant was very good, nicely cooked, good value and the staff were great.
Glazed georgian style door on bathroom!!! clearly see through!! Bathrobes provided but NO slippers. Sofa in room was very tired and soft & low - it felt like you were almost sitting on the floor and the cushions didnt support at all. Bed had seen better days and the divan base was sagging on one side - not comfy at all! Radiator in our room was cold, except for the very bottom - it was full of air and needing 'bleeding' to remove the air and get it hot. Staff in Carvery restaurant gave impression of not being bothered about customers or the surroundings. Tea pots were dusty and stained on outside, food grime laid between the runners on the carvery servery, chairs at out table were stained and had food crumbs in them - generally a not so clean feel to the whole place. I think the music they play in the breakfast room is designed to get you out of there as quickly as poss - its that type of piano jazz music music that irritates !! (Staff agrred but nothing they could do about it until 10.00am then they said we play decent music)
No noise from the exterior at the back Fabulous view of the Golf Course
Door closing noises Noise from adjoining room via shared door Shower dripped continuosly in the night
have stayed here before once with my husband and this is second time with my daughter will be coming again. Staff very helpful and friendly and food very good.
room could have more light too dark
Everything except the shower, lovely room with a view of gardens, service excellent and breakfast was lovely too.
Shower was not very good not enough power.
Customer Service sadly lacking !
The comfort of the room. The friendly staff. The noise level coming from other rooms and corridor was excellent. We were not disturbed at all, even though very busy. The overall service we recieved was excellent.
The wait at the bar, though i do understand there were some new members of staff.
The only thing was the shower water was cold
Room was freezing cold on arrival. Electric heaters not on. No heating in bathroom anyway not even heated towel rail!! No hooks on bathroom door to hang towels or robes.
I travel around the country with work staying away on average two nights a week and can easily say this is the best hotel I have stayed at this year .
Very good room Parking Golf course Golf club
Drinks in the hotel bar far too expensive. Carvery good at lunch but a bit worn out by evening.
Value for money. Food choices at fair prices.
Odd connection between old and new including small link corridor from reception to bar and restaurant. Just seemed a bit strange.
Room was lovely and the bed was massive. Had double doors leading outside was all very nice.
I could hear every time the person up strairs moved around his room. Kept waking me up :( also room was slightly dark, needed a better main light.
