Score from 1063 reviews Very good
Good restaurant, or bar snacks or carvery. Friendly staff and ideal for Durham or touring district.
Good comfortable room
Price of alcohol at the bar
Beds were lovely and comfortable room was quite spacious and bathroom quite modern
The hotel looked quite tired in the communal areas and could do with updating
The hotel was cold.... Our room had no heating at all the time we were there.. My phone said it was -2 outside and still no heating. I would not stay there again..
Hotel and Rib Room excellent
Very comfortable, lovely breakfast!
We were not advised of the extensive building works nearby which were very noisy.
Everything. From the welcome at reception, our beautiful room and the carvery. Great value for a class hotel. The new bedrooms, spa and leisure facilities will take this hotel to another level.
All the facilities look very nice. We can find almost everything we want. Scenery is good. The price is very worth.
We saw on the booking website that they provide free wifi in the farm house, but actually there isn't, what makes us feel a little disappointed. And the lights in the farm house is not bright enough and some of them are broken.
Nice place overall friendly staff
Some residents at the bar using racist language, to the point where they could be overheard!
The room was lovely, spacious and clean with a huge and comfy bed. The bathroom was nice too with a nice big bath and shower. Bar was fantastic with a piano player which was a nice change
There was a urine stain on the toilet seat on arrival but not really too fussed about that. The grill was very expensive and had a limited menu so decided to cancel booking and go elsewhere. On arrival it did look like a bit of a building site due to the building of the spa
Bedroom & bathroom fixtures & fittings
Restaurant was excellent
The bedrooms are in desperate need of a refurbishment and the room being heated by a 2 kW fan heater is totally inadequate in winter months . The bathroom has a tiled floor with no heating whatsoever not even a heated towel rail. Instead of building a spa they should be upgrading the bedrooms . Someone had lost £80 on lounge seat handed to bar manager who gave to reception would have been nice for someone to have taken my name to see whether it had found its owner. Will not be going back very dissapointed.
Close to amenities and to the relatives we where visiting.
The mattress had got a dip in it.I kept rolling into it .Apart from that it was all very nice thank you.
Deluxe room was very nice. View over the Golf Course Size of Bath
Lovely atmosphere. Great food at a decent price.
The room was really nice
Ther was no bubble bath in the bathroom!!
Accommodation, Food and all round decor of Hotel
The friendliness and helpfulness of all the hotel staff without exception was outstanding. The ambiance and facilities are delightful and comfortable. Someone having discovered that we were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary put a box of chocolates in our room with the hotel's compliments and good wishes. A nice unexpected touch like this was greatly appreciated. The food was excellent.
Front disc staff very helpfull
Poor wifi and poor breakfast
Wedding function and food excellent
The bathroom had a sewerage smell problem but as they where building work going on didn't bother complaining as thought it would be same in other rooms but didn't spoil our stay
My wife and I only booked on the spur-of-the-moment,to visit our grandson at Durham University. When we arrived, there was no confirmation of our booking. The staff on Reception said that it was no problem, and they could sort things out. The double room was huge and overlooked the gardens and golf course.Looking out the window we could see a reed pond with plenty of birds and wildlife, very pleasant. We went into Durham to see our Grandson, and returned the Hotel just after 10-30pm.My wife was starving,so we headed to the Carvery, which was almost closing. My wife disappeared to the ladies, and by the time she returned, the food was being cleared away.I explained that my Wife has dementia, and she really needed to eat.The staff in the Carvery made her a sandwich and a plate of salad, and made her feel extra special, which was very nice.We flopped into bed,and it was so comfortable.Breakfast the following day was amazing.I can honestly recommend The Ramside Hall to anybody
Room was nice, a nice romantic break
Quiet location with good food. Ideal for a visit to Durham as only a few miles outside and parking was easy. There is also a Park and Ride opposite the hotel.
Think the heating could do with updating as the electric wall heater was quite noisy.
Our room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable, the room and bathroom were also clean. Bad staff were very friendly, would definetly visit again
