staff at reception, breakfast and restaurant very good , friendly efficient. Food to recommend car parking excellent

the building is old and therefore not suited for a modern hotel : to get to a 1st floor room you had to go up then down then up again! not easy with bags or suitcases. When we stayed was high summer there was no airconditionning in any room just a little fan was provided: it was very stuffy as opening windows was not possible : main road just under` shower worked when it felt like it though the room was newly re-done will use the pub-restaurant again but not the hotel booking on line was not simple not to Best Western standard

Lovely, clean room One particular lady in the restaurant really made the stay special - because she liked looking after people and went the extra mile.

Only a shame there was no air con in the bedroom on a very hot day.

Underfloor heating on in August with no obvious place to turn it off; no air conditioning even tho the unit appeared to be built into the wall; on asking to move to another room as we couldn't breathe and were dripping with perspiration, they put us in a room over the kitchen where an incessant fan could be heard. Have never complained about a hotel in my life, but I honestly cannot recommend this to anyone. Had to move back to the original room and as we had to have the windows open, it was noisy all night with boy racers driving by, felt like I was sleeping in the car park-perhaps we should have slept in the car instead, at least it would have been cooler if just as noisy!

    Very friendly staff, great breakfast.

Wet towels that we had hung to dry were folded in a pile and were still wet when we went to use them in the evening. Hedge by car park exit needed to be trimmed back as it was difficult to see traffic and make a safe exit.

Good price and location for the wedding we were attending. Staff were excellent allowing us to check in early so we could get ready after for the wedding after a long drive.

We had to have a disabled room on the ground floor in order to get the early check in and it felt very basic and a bit dark and dowdy. It was also BOILING and we couldn't open the window due to ground floor location and noise from road.

The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the location very suitable for my needs. I like ancient buildings, and here history was combined with modern facilities.

The room temperature was rather high on a warm summer day, compared with the gound floor temperature. And there was a continuous quiet humming sound from an unidentified source.

Shereen, waitress in the restaurant, was very friendly. Food was good. Room was a good size and nicely furnished. Hotel full of character.

Pricey. Bed seemed small. Room was hot but fan provided (appreciate that the weather was warm so not much can be done on this!)

Old worldly, good pub food, the beer batted fish with triple cut chips is the best every tasted.

Terrible breakfast, scrambled egg uneatable, does not reflect meals served in evening. The room we had, had the bathroom electric towel rail permanently ON, you burned yourself when using toilet. When you switched it off the trip switch operated and cut off power to the room. Reported this and was told it was a known fault that they could not solve. THIS IS A SAFETY POINT THAT THEY IGNORE, THIS IS DANGEROUS.
