Friendly staff. Nice large room. Big TV screen
No heat in the bathroom. No shaver socket.
Location and security
Premier Inn accomodation for a greater cost.
The whole package
Good location. Easy access to town. Room was comfy.
Room backed onto a Main Street and wasn't soundproofed. Traffic could be heard all night. Additional door to the outside street had no less than eight people try to get in overnight.
Comfort of bed and the best reading lights we have encountered for years! Willingness of staff (Lisa) to accept some constructive observations without going all defensive and offering bland excuses. Very refreshing.
Mirror on cupboard door set for someone 4' high; very strange. Some minor points which I pointed out to Lisa.
The Staff and the building
Breakfast expensive with only two set prices. My wife had coffee and paid for full continental breakfast.
food was ok
overcrowded-packing too many people in for parties-shouldn't be letting out rooms..no use of restaurant available and 100 people trying to use bar falling over diners sent their that weren't allowed in restaurant-rubbish-didn't stay a night
Character of the building staff location
No hot water had to contact reception for tvem to tell us to run all taps for 15 mins to get hot water to the room and electric had triped so contacted staff again we have a lot of nights away and not experienced these issues before
Always had a good stay at this hotel great location great for comfort a good food fantastic staff you won't be disappointed if you stay here
The room was fantastic, had everything you need. The bed was as good as out new bed we have at home. The bathroom is also one you wished you a Had at home. Would highly recommend to anyone
Location, old building, friendly staff
Bar area and staff
Room not superior in my opinion having stayed in many hotels
Excellent staff, great food.
It's a very pretty building and it's very well maintained and nice. There was plenty of free parking. It's all up to a very high standard.
You can end up in the new part of the building or the old part, they adjoin, so if you want a very scenic little room in the old part of the hotel - ask before. Otherwise you end up in a very nice, very acceptable new part of the building, it just doesn't have the character of the old bit though.
staff,room and the meal.
shower took ages to warm up
Receptionist was funny, helpful, and patient when we forgot the wifi password (twice). Staff made sure we had everything we needed. On the day we left they were preparing to host a wedding in the hotel, which looked amazing.
It was almost impossible to have a decent shower. It took about 10 minutes before the hot water came on tap in the shower.
The historic building had a lot of character and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The sink in the room that we had was very small and that made it awkward to use.
Clean and nice staff
Shower not working properly no wifi, tv remote having to do river dance on it to change channels and volume, no information on what is expected from us as in leaving. The last visit last month to a best western we had no complaints at all so I know you can do better
Exceptionally friendly & efficient staff. Evening meal a pleasant surprise. Try their own triple-baked chips!!
The lighting in the bathroom was not great for applying make-up!
The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the town center. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was clean, tidy and warm, the bed was comfortable. Easy parking on site.
Comfortable bed, tea and coffee provided, even a fan in the wardrobe if needed. Very helpful staff and a good restaurant at reasonable prices.
A little noisy at times but that's down to other guests and nothing to particularly disturb me.
Friendly staff, good comfortable bed. A minimum of disturbance from function ( wedding party )
Wifi in annex building was not strong enough.
Location is within easy walking to town centre and castle. The original part of the hotel is fantastic. They will let you go down and see the prison cells. Lots of original features. Staff were nice and food although limited for veggies was tasty.
We got a room in the newer part. No aircon and it was stifling hot. Its right by a really busy road so the noise with the window open kept you awake. Breakfast was v expensive so we went into the centre and there was good choice. Carpark was small and there wasnt always room plus a large tree that left car very dirty.
