Excellent location Decent sized room Nice Bathroom Room nice and clean
Narrow bed for two Continual background whine coming from walls, kept us awake. Bathroom fan not working Windows would not stay open Breakfast only OK for price
The food in the restaurant was very good and a nice atmosphere
The distance from the town centre train station, the rooms were to hot and the window would not stay open it would just slide down, the mattress was very uncomfortable so I was unable to sleep.
Noisy room overlooking busy road junction near level crossing. Breakfast offered probably worst choice I have experienced in many years of using hotel groups.
Just a minor hitch - our room key did not work so had to go and fetch another
Quiet, stylish and Comfortable. Very helpful personnel. Rooms furnished with ironing facilities. Nice dinner although not cheap.
The bathroom had burnt bulbs and would not always supply cold or hot water in time. Some minor issues because of its age. Warm beer.
Room was nice and spacious along with bathroom
Corridor to room smelt like chemicals had been mixed someone in our party had to change there room as the smell was unbearable
Atmosphere was very good.Waiters were very friendly.
food could have been more up market-It was very pubby.
staff at reception, breakfast and restaurant very good , friendly efficient. Food to recommend car parking excellent
the building is old and therefore not suited for a modern hotel : to get to a 1st floor room you had to go up then down then up again! not easy with bags or suitcases. When we stayed was high summer there was no airconditionning in any room just a little fan was provided: it was very stuffy as opening windows was not possible : main road just under` shower worked when it felt like it though the room was newly re-done will use the pub-restaurant again but not the hotel booking on line was not simple not to Best Western standard
Room in new annex good size and bed very comfortable good real ales in bar and food at dinner and breakfast very good
Located a bit far from centre for easy access not enough staff on breakfast duty on a Sunday when hotel was full
Free wifi staff where friendly
Ŕoad too close to the room .door to the room opens up òn to a main road as we had a family room. long way to room from Inside up and down stairs .bath not big enough to have a bath in
Room was clean
Very hot unable to open windows Breakfast took a very long time Very loud over pub
Evening meal Friendly and helpful staff
Bedroom was a long way down corridors. Stairs were difficult for the elderly
Location and style of hotel, and very very clean!
The bathroom above started leaking and huge flood in our bathroom - no upgrade given or anything to go out the way to say sorry? Just put in room next door
Secluded bedroom. Great bed. Excellent food
Somewhat limited buffet breakfast
The food in the evening was outstanding as was the service in the bar which was extremely friendly. Front desk was very efficient.
Cost of the breakfast and that it was an add on
The room was very comfortable and spacious. The bathroom well fitted out. Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and professional
Lovely, clean room One particular lady in the restaurant really made the stay special - because she liked looking after people and went the extra mile.
Only a shame there was no air con in the bedroom on a very hot day.
Had initially booked The George but was so pleased I changed it a week before we stayed as went stopped off at The George for a drink on the Friday evening and it was in a very busy (read loud) part of the High Street. The Rose and Crown is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the centre of town and for us that was ideal so we could walk off the evening meal before returning to our room. The main part of hotel is a beautiful building but because we had requested a quiet room we were in the Executive Suite of rooms in a new block separated by only a few steps from the main hotel. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed, including an iron and ironing board, but the godsend was the small desk top fan which came in very handy as our room was stifling once the sun moved round in the afternoon and early evening. Service at the front desk and breakfast room was very good. A very pleasant stay and if we are ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Rose and Crown.
Once small suggestion would be to have a separate sheet under the duvet cover as it was too hot to have the duvet over us but in a strange location I felt very vunerable with no cover.
D staff are very friendly & responded promptly to any complaints
The location was quiet The room was very clean and recently refurbished The original part of the building was full of character
Underfloor heating on in August with no obvious place to turn it off; no air conditioning even tho the unit appeared to be built into the wall; on asking to move to another room as we couldn't breathe and were dripping with perspiration, they put us in a room over the kitchen where an incessant fan could be heard. Have never complained about a hotel in my life, but I honestly cannot recommend this to anyone. Had to move back to the original room and as we had to have the windows open, it was noisy all night with boy racers driving by, felt like I was sleeping in the car park-perhaps we should have slept in the car instead, at least it would have been cooler if just as noisy!
food was good, nice hard bed, good wifi and room facilities
service was a little ordinary in the restaurant
Very friendly staff, great breakfast.
Wet towels that we had hung to dry were folded in a pile and were still wet when we went to use them in the evening. Hedge by car park exit needed to be trimmed back as it was difficult to see traffic and make a safe exit.
